Title: Just started thinking about transitioning MTF
Post by: negazina on September 04, 2015, 07:37:49 PM
If it's not the right forum just move it. Not entirely sure. xD

So I only started thinking about it this week and thinking of starting transitioning January '16 if I'm still up for it then.

All my life I've wanted to be a female although I thought it wasn't possible. This week I only just been researching it hardcore. I've got a few questions:

Is HRT just medication? I'm not planning on surgery as I heard of the costs and I was wondering whether HRT is possible just with meds?

How long should I think about transitioning? Is a matter of 4 months enough or do I need more?

I take antidepressants, will that be risky with HRT?

I'm 20 years old atm living in Australia in case you were wondering.

HRT is hormone replacement therapy. It is also called CHT or counter hormone therapy. It is not surgery. It is the administration of female hormones and suppression of male hormones.

You will need to take hormones for the rest of your life.

4 months is not enough time, see above.

Antidepressants and HRT is a question for your doctor. I am on HRT and antidepressants.

You may want to seek out a gender therapist and a trans group.
