How fast does hip growth due to fat redistribution typically occur when on HRT? I'm 26 years old and about 7 months in...when I started I weighed 140 lbs (5'6) and had 34" hips, and now weigh 150 lbs and have 39.5" hips...I know that weight gain is common when taking estrogen, but is that kind of hip size increase normal? Looking at various posts online, it seems atypical and it makes me wonder if I should look into getting genetic testing for Klinefelter's Syndrome or some other related issue. Would it be a good idea to get tested/does it matter at this point?

I think that's one of those "your milage may vary". I would ask your doctor, assuming you're not self medicating, at your next checkup. Sounds atypical (albeit sounds simply amazing!), but I'm not a doctor.
If you gained 10 pounds then yeah maybe you gained some hips along with it. I doubt Klinefilters has anything to do with it since the phenotype is still male. Also I think people who have 47,XXY tend to be taller than 5'6"
I've been on HRT for almost 3 months now, and in the last 2 months I've gained 2 inches in my hips (from 36 to 38), and haven't gained a single pound. I think most of that measurement is from my butt getting bigger though, lol. I've also lost 2 inches in my waist (from 32 to 30), so it's probably just redistributing. I'm 33 and also 5'6" and weigh 140 pounds, how interesting... :D
I am glad this thread popped up. My hips have gone up 2 inches in the last couple months. I am 37 yrs 5'10" and 183 lbs I have put on 20 lbs since starting hrt. Mostly in my chest and but. So most of the growth is probably fat. But, for a month now, my hip bones have been hurting. First it was just the outer tips of the bone, then the whole bone. Just a dull ache, like a bruise. Could that just be muscles and ligaments changing?
I'm 55 and 5"11 and have lost 37 lbs , to 168 lbs, on 9 months of HRT. So, everything has gotten smaller. The proportions have all changed and are all moving in the right direction and my hips are 2 inches bigger than they were a couple of years ago when I weighed 10 lbs more.. My waist hip ratio is now 87% from where it used to vary between about 92 and 95%.

I've mentioned this before on here but yeah more or less the same happened to me except I didn't gain weight till about two years later so I know for certain it was the hip bone itself. They grew about 3 months in. I think I went from like 34" to 36"-37" then after gaining weight 39"-40". I highly suspect I have some latent intersex condition since there's other stuff I had growing up but yeah who knows, I'm not complaining lol.
I've gained virtually nothing on my hips though my butt has gotten bigger! I haven't actually measured so maybe there is *something* but it's minimal in my case.
When I started HRT I wore a size 8 in jeans and today I still wear size 8, I just fill them out a little better than I did before. :)
