Title: new to the boards, new to everything
Post by: wifeofftm on September 07, 2015, 01:38:04 PM
Hi all,

My FTM husband (37) and I (44) have been together for 13 years and have two children. Within the last month, he told me he wants to transition to becoming a man, and we told the kids (age 7), our families and his workplace. He is now going by his chosen name everywhere in our lives. He has a surgery consult later this month and a hormone therapy consult next month. Things have been moving super quick as you can see, but that is pretty normal for us - we may take a while to figure things out, but once we do, we move! LOL

I am looking for spouses who have supported their ftm partners through transition. I haven't found many resources for spouses of FTM. I'm also looking to connect with folks who are parents and guiding their children through a parent's transition. Our kids have been simply amazing - their response was basically, "well when we were younger, we thought mommy was a boy, so we were right and you were wrong." Out of the mouths of babes!!!

Looking forward to connecting with other folks in similar places in their lives!

Welcome!  I don't fall into the category of spouses of those transitioning, but I can say that this community is absolutely amazing.  I just joined and already feel more welcome than I have practically anywhere else online, and I know there are many people who fall into your category on here.  I hope you find what you're looking for and enjoy your time here!  :)

Hi and welcome to Susan's. I recommend checking out the SO section of the site. Now as far the children part I would look at the other sections because many members on here have children and will be able to help further. Thank you for coming on her to support your husband. I look forward to seeing you around on the forums. Good luck and Hugs
Mariah

Hi!
I just joined the page. I am the SO of a FTM he has been transitioning for three years. Just recently had his hysto and started T. I would be happy to answer any questions i can and be here to support. I dont have kids but we have talked about what and how to go about the subject when we do.
