Title: Pretransition; A few questions: Future passibility, tips on passing.
Post by: DannyCharles on September 08, 2015, 10:37:43 PM
Hi, I'm 15 years old and I identify as mtf trans(pre-anything.) I have not yet began any medical procedures like hrt yet but it is definitely around the corner in the near future. But for now, I have a few questions regarding predictions on how I will pass after hrt (mainly my face.)  I would also really appreciate tips on how I can pass better in the future in accordance to my facial structure(hairstyles, makeup, etc.) Thanks in advance! :)

Hi -

A couple of suggestions:

1. Find a LGBTQ-support group for youth in your area if possible but in any case find one

2. See a gender therapist or counselor  (school, drop in center, social services, youth center, etc.)

Don't know if you are out to your parents but it sounds like the conversation is becoming necessary.  It's a big thing to do but it'll be difficult not to and go on HRT.  Do not do HRT without seeing a doctor and having him/her prescribe.

Keep us informed and talking to folks here.  That's always helpful.

Try not to worry, you'll be amazing, especially since you are so young.  Definitely try to get in touch with a doctor who can help you explore the medical aspects.  I guess my biggest tip is to keep growing your hair out and don't get it cut, if you want long hair, it takes a long time so it's good to start early.  :)

Warm welcome to Susan's Danny

Its amazing what T blockers and the HRT program can do, its not overnight tho, but you are young, T has not ravaged you too much, so from here I can only echo what others have said about Therapist and Dr's/Endo's help.

Please keep us all updated with how you do, best wishes to you moving forward

I Look forward to seeing you around the forum's

It's a long road and you are just starting.  Apart from what has already been said - you need a new hairstyle, but that's not so hard.  I know you don't have a lot of hair now, but would it arrange a little more feminine?  The next point is to smile, it's surprising how much difference that makes.  Any way you could borrow a wig or hairpiece?  If you can, put it on, smile and take another photo.  I think you will be surprised.

I've lost too much hair so I wear a wig full time.  Some of us who transitioned at an older age need to.

Thank you all for taking the time to comment! To be honest, I'm seriously dreading coming out to my parents. I've tried to come out to my mom before and she brushed it off as just a phase. I just feel that they wouldn't take me seriously whatsoever. I recently came out to my girlfriend, which was pretty hard. A few of my friends know as well, so I have somewhat of a support system for what it's worth.

I sounds as if you already have a plan of campaign.  Come out to friends you think will support you, then to your girlfriend, then to your family when you have more confidence and some support.  Very few people find it easy, but you can come here for support too.

Hello and welcome  :)

You could have a look here for a few resources that could help you:

Its all a process... take the time you need but keep at it...
Some people come out in a letter, or via text...
and some people use a comparison with a twin... they will be like their male/female twin, with the same sense of humour...
