Hello , I'm from Perth, Australia
I am 37 and have been a lesbian my whole life .
I have recently realised that I identify more comfortably as a guy . I have a loving gf who I've known for nearly 10 years but we have only been a couple and going out for two yrs . I recently told her I think I'm having a gender crisis thingo and thing I want to become a man .
She is very understanding and said she will love me as female or male it doesn't matter . I recently told my mum after having a tearful breakdown, my mum said is that all I'm crying about . She is very understanding to !!!!
I believe I have repressed my wanting to be male and as a result I have suffered major depression because of it and not feeling comfortable as a female like forever.
I feel a sense of relief telling my gf and mum . But my depression has gone into overdrive.
Where do I start my journey and start the ball rolling ?
Thanks for reading , I'm scared , anxious and worried.
Sevens

Welcome to Susan's Place. First you need a good Gender Therapist who will help you with the medical side of treatment. When you are ready you can start living in the male gender and later you will be able to receive the surgery you desire. The FTM section has many really great guys and they are very helpful to somebody new. If you don't see what you want to know, ask and you should have an answer pretty quick. The others can help you with doctors should you need one. Enjoy your journey and let me know if I can help,
Hi Sevens, Welcome to Susan's. A therapist would be a great place to start. Congrats on being out to your mom and GF. I look forward to seeing you around the forums. Good luck and Hugs

Congratulations, you have done the hardest part, getting started. As others said, see a gender therapist to start with the whole process.
Thanks guys for the support and giving me the 'where to next ' step . I suspect I shall be on here a bit as its good to not feel completely isolated. It's nice to know I have support .
Love , peace and all that jazz .

Thanks again guys , I've been told that there isn't a gender therapist here in Perth , WA .
My questions are ...
How long until I can have top surgery?
How long until I could start on T ?

That depends on your therapy sessions. Sometimes only a few sessions are need to determine that you are ready for T and sometime it takes more. The therapist wants learn about your understanding of the process and make sure you are able to make wise decisions for yourself. Surgery tends to have a much longer window of as much as a year but I don't know the timing for FTMs so somebody might give you a better number.
As for therapy, if you are unable to find anyone near by, there are therapist that work over the internet. This would save you from traveling long distances or relocating for treatment like I had to.
Scared anxious and worried is normal. But you've taken a great first step. Well done x
Hello, Sevens! I'm new here, and new to transgender things in general, but I wanted to say your post resonated with me; I share your anxieties, though I have yet to talk to anyone about it, so you're way ahead of me, man! You've already got your journey started just by recognizing it and talking to people about it, and I suspect Susan's Place is a great place to start getting answers and advice from people who know what they're talking about. Wishing you luck!
