"Hollywood stars have descended on Copenhagen, closing Nyhavn and Charlottenborg for two weeks. They're filming a biopic of Danish artist Lili Elbe who, in 1930, was the first transgender woman known to undergo sex reassignment surgery.
But while the 'The Danish Girl' promises to be a blockbuster, it is highly controversial in transgender communities. Elbe will be played by Oscar-winning Eddie Redmayne, a cisgender man (see terms at end of article."
My problem with casting men as playing trans women is that our identities are being exploited for money and fame.

I have a bigger problem with trans women exploiting themselves for money and fame.
I'd also rather see a good performance by a cis male than a lesser one from a trans actress. Bad lead performance = bad movie, and this one is aiming for Oscars. Let's face it, the only trans actress I've ever seen that could really act is Laverne Cox, whom I could not picture in this role.
I personally can't wait to see this film.
I honestly don't care who makes the money as long as our stories are told with truth and compassion.
