A transgender inmate who says she was called "it" and "some kind of animal" by guards who watched her shower has won a legal victory that forces the Maryland prison system to better train for how to treat transgender people, advocates say.

From the article: 'there has been a "total shift in agency thinking" since Brown's complaint was filed.'

What was their thinking before the complaint? Let's abuse marginalized inmates and see if anyone complains? I can't imagine what sort of "agency thinking" would lead to the sort of horrors described in the article.

When people use the "it" word to refer to trans people it really fills me with rage.  It's especially infuriating when it comes from religious people speaking with their fake transparent "Love".

I guess I still need to work on this particular anger issue, LOL.

"It" (referring to a transperson) is one of the few words I absolutely hate. It is dehumanizing.
