Title: erectile function after orchie??
Post by: gaygirl420 on September 24, 2015, 02:09:26 PM
quick trigger warning for mention of genitals, surgery, sex, etc

so i just had a bilateral orchiectomy done two weeks ago (friday sept 11) & im getting along in the healing process. my partner and i started resuming sexual activity recently (since i dont use my junk in sex anyway really) and i was under the impression that i wouldnt be able to have an erection post-operatively but im not even experiencing any dysfunction at all? and ive barely experienced it at all in the past year and a half on hrt? does anyone know why this is still happening to me? the only thing that changed is now getting an erection is incredibly physically painful where before it wasnt, or was only mildly so.

i started taking spiro and finasteride again (albeit a quarter of my pre-op spiro dose) in an attempt to fight this phenomenon and nothing seems to work. wtf is going on please help me  my doctor is several hours away from me & i dont have time or money to go see them rn

My brother and sister were into horses and had s gelding for a number of years and he was able to show signs of sexual thoughts for many years. I have heard that erection becomes more difficult as time goes on but as you are only two weeks post surgical, you may need to wait longer to see results.

I'm sure your hypothalamus is going "WTF!!??" and telling your adrenals to pump out all the T they can right now.  It took a couple or 3 weeks for my junk to calm down completely, but it did.

A year later, I am very happy with the results.  No more morning wood, but I can still hoist the guy if I really want to.  Still no interest in PIV sex whatsoever though.

I had an orchiectomy 13 months ago.  Same problem.  The pain stopped with regular erections.  Still get morning wood periodically.  T levels are good.  E is a little low - you may want to check that.  However....

Sex is in the mind.  Your mind is working well.  If you're having GCS, it should help...

You don't need spiro beyond the first three months is hrt. I suggest stopping spiro all together, especially after an orki. It's useless in your system and its obvious side effects of sexual dysfunction are occurring.

No dosages! Edit them out! And you should be consulting your physician about this matter, not us. Changing your medications or dosages is dangerous unless regulated and monitored by your doctor.

Why on Earth did you get an orchiectomy when your SRS date is less than six months away? You do know that they normally perform an orchiectomy as part of SRS, right? I hope you at least consulted with your SRS surgeon first, because some surgeons refuse to do SRS on someone who has had an orchiectomy, depending on how it was performed.

Stopping spiro or finasteride will not do anything to decrease erections, since they are drugs that are supposed to suppress the effect of testosterone. And I'm sorry to say, but complete erectile dysfunction does not happen to everyone. You should not be experiencing spontaneous erections, but still being able to get an erection when you try is pretty normal. If what you've already done hasn't given you complete erectile dysfunction, no amount of medication will either.
