Title: First ever leg wax
Post by: byanyothername on September 24, 2015, 05:45:53 PM
Hi everybody,

I'm having my legs waxed for the first ever time on Saturday, and I was wondering if anybody could recommend any pre and/or post wax ointments or creams to help soothe my skin afterwards and make sure that I don't have too much irritation!

I live in the UK so ideally something I could get from Boots :)

Thanks x

Just to update; I had my legs waxed today by a very skilled beautician. Minimal pain and done very quickly considering how hairy they were! Hopefully my legs last a few weeks before those nasties come back. I think next time I will get my lower arms done too which will pretty much leave my body hairless. Whoop whoop!  :D

I bought some exfoliating gloves from Boots and have exfoliated my legs using them and some normal soap. I have also bought some moisturiser to soothe my legs some. It's been about 5 hours now and apart from the bikini line area, no lumps, bumps or redness.

I am a very happy girl!

Congratulations on silky smooth legs! I'd love to go and have a full body wax (ugh, it's like a Sasquatch I kid you not). I was going to try home waxing first as I'm on a limited income right now.

Well I paid £32 for full leg and bikini wax, which is a fair bit but if it lasts a few weeks then I'll be chuffed. The end result is really awesome, so incredibly smooth. I'm not sure how much more difficult home waxing is but I'd imagine the kit will cost around the same as a wax at a salon!

The cheapest waxing salon near me, within 3hrs drive, wants $105 aud (£49) for full leg + bikini and they charge extra for "men" :(

Goodness me Sarah! That's straight up extortion! I can see why DIY appeals, I walked for 10 minutes to get to my salon.

That's straight up extortion!
I live on the Sunshine Coast and we have a huge beach and surf scene and huge prices to match.

It may be costly but it's so much better to have it done properly by people who know what they're doing. I haven't needed to have a wax for a long time now but wow those full body waxes were exhilarating! And the smoothness afterwards...worth every cent.

I finally had my legs done professionally the other day. It was so much easier than doing it myself. That whole inflecting pain on one's self makes it so much worse.
The funny part to me was the temperature of the wax. It was probably always the same temp, but my feeling would change based on where it was and if she just pulled a strip from the area.
From "Oh, that feels nice." to "OMG! My leg is going to burn off!"
