Title: Very Long Hair
Post by: Punzie on September 26, 2015, 10:37:33 PM
So I've already bought a few wigs and tried them out, one of my favorite is this really long (47inch) natural blonde colored straight haired wig. I absolutely adore it, but I have yet to wear it in public in fear of drawing too much attention to myself. I'm afraid that because of its length that it might give it away on the spot that its a wig, despite its natural color and lack of shinyness for a synthetic wig. However, due to my natural build and the feminine vibe super long hair gives off, I look like a girl from behind. Do any of you wear wigs that are really long? How do they compare to shorter wigs? I'm hoping that in the long run, I can grow my hair long enough to the point in which I can stick to my natural hair, but I'm worried it wont ever reach the length I'm aiming for many years from now. The reason I posted this in passing instead of beauty is because the wig in this instance refers to my ability to pass and for the hair to seem natural. What are your opinions/advice?

I do not wear a wig, but my friends used to say that I look more feminine when I have shorter hair. It is paradoxical that long hair sometimes can make me look more masculine. My examples:

Nevertheless, I like long hair and nowadays my hair is becoming long again.

Back in the late '80 and early '90s I had my own hair very long. At it's longest it touched my elbows, which just shy of waist length. I'm very slender, too, I think I was usually taken for a woman when seen from behind (and often from the front, for that matter). A few times I even had men open doors for me, doubtless assuming I was a women. I, of course, appreciated it.

Toward the mid '90s I cut my hair fairly short again. One of my first online purchases was a waist length blonde synthetic wig. It never looked very believable, though. For one thing, most blonde synthetics look plasticy. The main problem with making a wig look convincing, though, is the hairline and to a lessor extent the head shape. Unless the wig is a lace front with the thin mesh you adhere to your forehead, the front of the wig is pretty much a wig giveaway. Also, you might notice that with very long hair the hair lies very close to the scalp around the head. You rarely see a wig the fits to your scalp that closely. If you had a full lace wig custom fitted to your head, then shave your head it might come close to that look. I've actually seen some bald alopecia ladies who manage to achieve that look pretty well, but you won't get it with most wigs and with hair under it.
