Title: Mtf in sports
Post by: Jade.th on September 28, 2015, 02:29:55 PM
Hi Queens,
I m a young trans mtf pre-everything and I have a question in mind that I would like to ask here : do a mtf, after a complete transition (SRS and all the steps necessaries), can play in a sport (soccer for example) as a female ?
I hope that someone will be able to answer my question.

Ps : sorry if I did some mistakes in my post, I m French.

Thanks for reading me :)

To answer your question, it would probably depend on your school but many sporting organizations require 2 years of hormone therapy before a transgender person can play in sports in their affirmed gender.

BTW, I don't like the term "Queen" but whatever.

Bonjour et bienvenue  :)

This is an example, you might ask or look up the rules at your place:

1. A male-to-female (MTF) transgender student athlete who is taking medically prescribed hormone treatment related to gender transition may participate on a men's team at any time, but must complete one year of hormone treatment related to gender transition before competing on a women's team.

2. A female-to-male (FTM) transgender student athlete who is taking medically prescribed testosterone related to gender transition may not participate on a women's team after beginning hormone treatment.

3. A female-to-male (FTM) transgender student athlete who is taking medically prescribed testosterone for the purposes of gender transition may compete on a men's team with an ... approved medical exception.

Hi Jade, welcome to Susan's. I think it depends on rules where you live and what and where you want to participate. I look forward to seeing you around the forums. Good luck and Hugs

There is an MTF girl fighting in the UFC I think. She's doing pretty good too it sounds like, or was last I heard.

Thanks you guys for your answers :)

In fact my dream would be to become a pro soccer player cause soccer is my passion :) and I don't know if it's really possible (but I hope so!) for a trans MtF to play with CIS women in a pro competition/championship. For the moment I ve never heard about a similary case in soccer but in other sports I know some athletes MtF so maybe one day my dream will come true :)

Thanks Laura_7  ;)
I've heard of her and her story, she is great. But she plays in a men team and I would like to know if she or an other MtF trans woman can play in a feminine team, I think it's possible but I m not sure at 100%.

I don't know about other organizations but under the I.O.C. if you have been on hormones for 2 years, you can compete.

I went back to competitive figure skating many years after transition (once the IOC changed the rules) and never had any problems. I am not 'out' about my past but in two National competitions nobody said a word. I brought home 1 National bronze medal.
