Hi everyone. Sorry if this subject has been covered before. It's always a fun one for southpaws such as myself to wonder about. I write and eat left handed but do most everything else right handed.Easier to find scissors, musical instruments, etc. that way.
Yep, although dog food dog breath wasn't an option on the previous polls ;)
Very creative
I'm ambisinistrous, bad with both hands, do I go dog food or something else?
I write with my left hand and bat on the left side. I use scissors with my right hand, and if I were an MMA fighter, my right hand would be my power hand.
I am a lefty, but i can use either hand except to write with. For writing i only use my left hand, never used the right for writing.
I'm left or right handed ! ! ! LMAO
I've learned ambidexterousness through a combo of hyperflexible finger joints making my fingers hurt (so i switch hand to continue writing) and a series of art teachers that all thought getting us to draw with our non dominant hand was a unique idea
Right again!
But I have taught myself some ambidexterity because it is usefull, good for the brain (learning always is) and if anything ever hinders my right hand or removes it frrom use I would like to be able to continue with my life. I need to be able to do the little things. I have trained for blindness too but that is another story for a thread about the careless words of stupid doctors.
I am strongly right-handed. I have taught myself to mouse with my left hand to avoid repetetive stress injury to my right hand, but, other than that, my left hand is totally clutzy.
Lefty.
Odd, I write mostly with left, but go both ways for anything else:) wonder if ambidextrous is more predominant in our group?

I'm left handed but for little things Im right handed, like using scissors, cause if I use them with the left had, they dont work.

Well now. I am ambidextrous in most everything. Some of it self-taught, mostly seemingly natural.
I write and draw both ways. I studied graphoanalysis. My writing and drawing styles between left and right are different - apparently the brain thoughts are different when going right versus left.
I cook / eat both ways. I can use forks, spoons, knives either way. Using a can opener only righty can get frustrating if I need to go lefty (Does anyone make lefty can openers?).
Shopping: I'll squeeze the melons and tomatoes either way.
I play guitar and drums both lefty and righty. Criminals robbed me last year and stole my two guitars - both strung lefty. I figure the idiots probably could not understand why my guitars did not work.
I play sports both ways. Softball / baseball (hit, throw, catch. As a pitcher, I would confuse the hitter to get a true 'change up' from one side to the other.) Soccer / football (likewise kick either lefty or righty) Basketball (never learned the righty or lefty shoot - always shoot from the chest or two-handed over the head, dribbling is both ways)
The first time I ever used a computer mouse, I grabbed it with my left hand - no thought to taking it with my right hand. I have tried righty mousing and not as good as lefty - righty is clumsy no matter how hard I try. I find that my keyboarding tends to be predominantly lefty - I type more keys with my left than right hand.
I can use scissors either way. Last place where I worked was a lefty with lefty scissors at his desk. We worked on tasks and I used his just fine left-handed.
Household: Both again - I use the sponges and brushes either way to do household chores; I bathe using the soap or washcloth in either hand.
Mechanical: I can use tools either way - hoes, rakes, shovels, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, lawn trimmers. Even the water hose - sometimes one hand, other times the other hand.
I can play billiards both ways - it helps with certain shots as I observe the other players fumble their shot.
I groom according to which side: I use my left hand to do make-up on my left side and my right hand to do make-up on my right side. I comb my hair similarly - left side with left hand, right side with right hand. I brush my teeth both-handed.
I fill up the gasoline tank holding the nozzle with my left hand; I wash the windows with the squeegee using my left hand.
I hand sew using either hand - depending upon which direction I'm sewing; even threading the hand needle goes either way.
TV and VCR remote controls - both righty and lefty again. It is noticeable how electronics manufactures remotes for righties.
In the old days when telephones were those big desk models, I always used my left hand to pick up the receiver and hold it to my head (mainly because my hearing is better on my left ear); I dialed lefty. I always placed the office telephone to my left. I use my cellular telephone lefty - keying, holding to my head.
Maybe Kellam and I are of the same mind. I also learned to read backwards by watching TV in a mirror.
Okay, one sure and solid lefty - my politics. Can I say that? (:-)

that's interesting... my handwriting is different from hand to hand but my drawing is mostly the same
Another righty here ;)
And another righty too.
Righty.
Hi Cassie;
I just read that you are Australian. If you live in Victoria, you might want to come to the Alphabet Soup support group. Meets once a month in Northcote. Quite a few bring their Significant Others or Partners. Drop me a PM and I can send you there details. Alphabet Soup are on Facebook too. The next get together is 7.30pm on the 17th Nov.
Judith
I can and do use both, but prefer the left.
Righty squad!!! :P
I'm left handed but throw best with my right hand. I'm a switch hitter, I can sew with either hand and east with the fork in my left and knife in my right...
Ambidextrous with a preference for my left hand.
Lefty here. :)
Like others here, it's a mix-up. I write left handed, eat continental style with the fork in the left hand exclusively, BUT I eat Indian food right-handed (no utensils). When it comes to drum sets, I'm fully ambidextrous - I lead with either hand and either foot. When I played bass guitar, it was right-handed. When I shot guns as a kid, it was left-handed, then as a teenager, I was forced to switch to right-handed shooting when I couldn't see in the left eye anymore, and then I had cataract surgery in that eye a year and a half ago, and now I have to go back again to left-handedness because I no longer have the distance vision in the right eye (made near-sighted in cataract surgery June 30th). I read right-eyed for up-close work, and see left-eyed mostly for distance things. I handle my smart phone right-handed.
I (once) saw an article about a study that showed most trans people are off handed. I decided to respond. Much to my dismay, I actually got chewed out for saying I am right handed.
Is there some big deal regarding it? I don't care about who is a south paw. It's not a big deal to me.
I tend to be ambidextrous, most things I can do with either hand, but some I do better left, other things I do better right
Right handed

Right-handed.
Although as a piano player, my left hand is still pretty precise, almost as good as my right. But for artwork I rely on my right.
I'm about down the middle with many tasks. Some are only left, and some only right.
I was "raised" (to be) right-handed ...
While @ University ... in the (late) 1980s ...
I started to go "ambi-dextrous" ~
while working for the University ... as a (white-collar) StudentProfessional ~
working with some of the very first DeskTop PersonalComputers ...
While in PostGrad school ... in Amsterdam ...
@ the end of the 1990s ...
I learned how to write with my left hand ... :icon_confused2:
The past few years in SanFrancisco ...
I've been learning/practicing to punch ... with my left hand ... :icon_wave:
Ambidextrous
I'd say I'm 55% right-handed and 45% left-handed. But, for years I'd switch which hand I'd use as my dominant one every week.
This week I'm right-handed.

I am part of the minority in any room I go to, I am a left hander!!!!!
Right handed and right eye dominate.
80% Right hand, Right eye, Left leg??
Ambidextrous, can do most stuff with both, but can only write with left.
I blame society for being designed for right handed people, but it's a hand skill if ur trying to get to a obscure bolt in the engine bay

Please I was considered Male for 64 years so I still have male humor. I am ambidextrous. I can pick my nose with either hand.
I'm completely right handed. My left hand is more of an assistant to my right hand but I can't do things properly with my left hand alone. I can even pick my nose much better with my right hand than my left hand ;D
I am right handed but because of a nerve disease I have to use my computer mouse left handed.
I'm ambidextrous except for writing which I only do with my left. Most other stuff I do with which ever hand seems more practical at the time.

ambidextrous but i like my lefty side better
Right hand is dominant for me.
I tend to use my right hand for precision work and my left hand for gross tasks. Like many people, I expect, I can write with both hands but my left hand writing is backwards.
I'm ambidextrous, I can do everything with both hands. Writing is pretty cool as left and right have there own styles. I used right when I was male but now find Im a bit more comfortable writing left handed as female.
Interesting nuances's when transitioning
I'm a righty, and strongly so. My left hand/foot are like clumsy add-ons. As a child I used my knife and fork in opposite hands because I couldn't use a fork with my left hand.

I'm left-handed and pretty much do everything with my left-hand. The only definite thing I can think of that I do with my right-hand is adjusting the rear view mirror, lol :P
I too am left-handed - all brilliant people are :)
I am left handed I write with my left hand but I do a lot of stuff with my right hand
I'm left handed, too. Although I have trained myself to use my mouse with my right hand, being that it's an MMO mouse and the keypad is on the left hand side, so I kinda had to in order to use my thumb on it like you're supposed to.

Now that you mentioned it, I wonder how many people use a left hand mouse? I don't.

This still rings true to today!

I'm pretty sure there's an option somewhere in the settings, at least in Windows, to swap the buttons over for left handed use. So a lot of mice are usable by either hand.
This is the one I use, because of where the buttons are placed, it's not really an option to use it left-handed:

That's one trippy rodent :)
I'm left handed but my preschool teacher made me learn how to write with the right hand, so I do everything with my left except actions that involve a pencil/pen etc...

I play a lot of mmo's but learned to use a right hand mouse in my left hand because a left handed mouse is too expensive. I have a Razer Deathadder and had to disable the thumb buttons. And speaking of mmo's I have always played female characters in my games lol.
left handed but can mouse draw with right
