Title: Drag?
Post by: Matthew on October 06, 2015, 03:24:20 AM
Do we have any Queens / Kings in the forums?

I do Club Kid type drag - so crazy and creative. Still fairly new to it, only been painting for about 2 months with my own stuff. Will attach some images soon:)

Right now I go by Amanduh Matthews as a drag name ( 'cos it's A-man-duh  ;D ).

Anyone else?

Amongst other personae I was Helen Held, The Girl No Man Can Hold - a singing drag magician and escapologist.  I got a fair bit of attention from it, but I was never image orientated or camp enough to really pass as a drag queen.

I hung out with gay friends when I started. I knew no other trans people anywhere. They were nice to me and took me everywhere with them. They talked me into doing drag at some coronation events. I think I did three gigs. It was fun. I had a good time. I probably sucked at it but who cares?

I like wearing feminine clothes but not sure if I'd be confident enough to do drag. Do you perform or simply go to clubs dressed up?

If I'm doing a look I'll just go out to the club in it - performances are a bit out of my comfort zone :P

I think a lot of people find that because drag is a character, they can find more confidence as that character, although I do agree that going out in drag is a pretty big thing :)
