Title: Nancy Drew
Post by: iKate on October 06, 2015, 05:21:14 AM
I think as a kid I read nearly every book there was. She was so much better than the hardy boys.

There's even a TV show coming out.

Nancy Drew fans, raise your hands!

Oooo, I read all the books too. I never read the Hardy Boys ones, well maybe one of them. I don't really remember.
There used to be a TV shows for both of them when I was a kid, but I think it was before your time.

*both hands raised* I loved Nancy Drew! And the Hardy Boys, and Rin Tin Tin :)

Heh, I tried reading Nancy Drew as a kid because all my classmates were into her, but I just couldn't relate to her. I much preferred the Hardy Boys; they seemed far more relevant to me. Guess the signs were there all along, for all of us. ;)

And I also loved the Famous Five. Initially, I thought I ought to relate to George because she was a very masculine tomboy (and everyone was telling me that I was a tomboy too), but it surprised me to discover that I couldn't bring myself to relate to her at all; the fit wasn't quite right. But I really related to Julian: a boy who was strong, dependable, with good leadership characteristics... now that was something I could relate to.

So apparently nancy will be a 30 something year old NYPD detective... okay. I hope they at least make it interesting and not another CSI clone.

Yup, I remember reading Nancy Drew as a kid. At some point someone told me there was a Hardy Boys series too but for some inexplicable reason I had no interest in it :p

That particular memory was one of the things I stumbled upon again after "the realization".
