Title: Girl from Bahrain here!
Post by: Emocia on October 06, 2015, 05:40:22 PM
Hello everyone! My name is Emocia, though that is just my online alias, not my actual name. I am very unsure about my birth name.

I am a Bahraini transgendered girl and I turned 18 years old this June. I am the youngest child in my family and a bit of an introvert in real life, though I'm trying to change that now. I've recently started university life which is going very well for me so far! I love art, drawing and I'm a bit of an avid video game and anime fan. I plan on studying abroad at SVA in future.

I live in, of course, Bahrain (you may have googled it already lol) -- a small island country directly bridged to Saudi Arabia. It's really worth mentioning that Bahrain is a lot more tolerant and open minded than Saudi, though the laws here regarding being transgender are still really vague to me.

You see, Bahrain apparently may be the only country in the Gulf with a lawyer that gives clients permission to undergo sex change. I have a huge problem with that. Fawziya Janahi is this lawyer who seems to be very supportive of binary transgender people. My problem is that the only way I can truly be who I am here is by going through years of therapy, paper work, and obligatory SRS.

That is basically just an even heavier weight on top of having to come out to a religious family that I try my hardest to love, cherish and be grateful for. I want to start HRT as soon as I can. I refuse to undergo bottom surgery. Having to undergo surgery in order to be accepted is wrong. It is not the right thing and I want to correct that to Fawziya Janahi.

To live is to change. I refuse to suffer in silence anymore, and I am currently contemplating on coming out to my mother. I am a very optimistic person who's tries to be a realist at the same time. I refuse to let my depression get down to me and I don't want to end my life. I want to make a change in life.

And that is why I finally came here to Susan's. I've always been meaning to join a transgender community for quite a while. We all need each other like family. We understand what kind of lives we both have to go through, and we can all help each other!

(Sorry for the long introduction, I just felt like I had a lot to let you guys know about me! I'm really looking forward to spending my time here!)

Hi Emocia

I was googling today for LGBT goups and support in the GCC and came across your post and thought I'd say hi from another local TG resident.
We have to be careful with what we post here but I just want you to know you're not alone and I'm happy to chat anytime if you'd like to.

xoxo

Just remember to stay safe...

You have one more option for hrt:
you can go private, there are endos in the us who work with implants.
They would use a few estrogen and bioidentical progesterone pellet implants twice a year. No further anti androgen as pill is needed.

Welcome!
You're very brave, and I applaud you.  You are the writer of your own story and the main character.  Changing the main character takes courage, and doing that at such a young age gives you a longer story.  :)
