Title: Spirolactone
Post by: Naturally Blonde on October 08, 2015, 04:43:12 AM
Those of you that are on or have experience of Spirolactone? can you please tell me the do's and don'ts of this medication? I know it's a durectic and affects potassium levels but I don't know much else? It's a drug not prescribed in the U.K so I don't have a lot of information.

The UK members can tell you if it is. I don't think it is available in the UK. As far as otherwise you summed Spiro up yourself pretty well except for the fact it helps lower T levels. Hugs

I really need some helpful information? as I don't have any instructions for the Spiro? I have high blood pressure and it's a durectic so it lowers blood pressure, To get it prescribed over here is difficult. It appears all the best meds are only available elsewhere? and the U.K system is fairly uneducated regarding the treatment of gender dysphoria.

Hi Hon,
Nice to see you.

Spiro is regarded by most endos as less effective than crypto as an AA, although it doesn't have the side effect of causing an acute depression in some users. I was on spiro as it is available here and I was nervous of CA due to my chronic depression issues.

It can drastically reduce BP, which is why it was first marketed, the AA effect was found later.

I don't think it is regarded as a better AA than CA, but as an alternative for those who don't tolerate CA.

The thing is I'd like information on the medication as I don't have an instruction sheet? dosage etc? my doctor and my Endocrinologist don't support it yet it reduces blood pressure and it will probably be effective for me. The alternatives as I mentioned before are not very effective.

I'm sorry, but we can't help you self medicate with a drug that isn't prescribed for you. Considering that is the purpose of this thread. Thread locked.
