Title: The Weight Loss phase
Post by: Shauna89 on October 08, 2015, 01:05:45 PM
Hey everyone I'm currently dieting down so I can start transition. At my heaviest I was around 390lbs and am currently down to 235. I've been fortunate so far and don't have any loose skin yet, But from what I see most cis girls around my height (5'8")  are like 120 to 140 average. I was wondering if there's a difference between the average for trans girls and cis girls, or will hormones strip off a lot of muscle that makes up my weight. Just curious if anyone's had experience with this.

You may have bigger bones so you may end up weighing a little more.  What I would recommend is not worrying about any specific weight but rather what you look like in the mirror and what your body fat level is.  On HRT long term a healthy body fat level will be between about 15 to 25 percent.  Not on HRT long term you could subtract about 5 percent from those figures.  Each individual body is different whether trans or CIS and the worst thing to do for either one is obsess over scale weight.

I'm about 140lbs. @ 5'6" and I think I look good. [emoji14] I'd like to lose an inch from my waist, but I'd like to gain a couple inches in my thighs and chest, so I'll probably end up closer to 145 or 150.

Like Deborah said, it's all about what you see in the mirror and your health really.

Wow congratulations I on the weight loss! I used to way 385 lbs after about 2.5 years I now weigh 183 lbs went from size 24 to 12. If you lose it slow there is good chance your skin won't sag too much. I don't have too much lose skin I used moisturizer everyday not sure if that was a major factor but hey soft skin is nice anyway. I am 6 ft tall and think could lose about 10 more pounds though.

This 6ft tall former fatty still sees nothing but a big bloated Alfred Hitchcock profile  belly, giant jiggling thighs, and calves though I'm 145 lbs.  My weight loss has mostly rendered sitting on hard surfaces a lot more painful.

How you carry yourself and what style clothes you wear can hide of ton of flaws. After having lived in a rural area where it seemed women fell into two extremes, short and fat or short and stick figures, the fat ones just don't even worry. It is what it is. No peer pressure to shame them. Living just outside of New York City all my life, people here think a lot differently.

Try not to worry about the final outcome, or even your present presentation. You have accomplished a lot to be proud of and are driven to achieve more. To reach your goal. The real goal being seen and accepted as a woman. Attitude makes up where genetics have failed.

Remember that the GRS surgeons require you to have a BMI of 24.99 or less (basically within the "healthy weight" category).  So I would aim for that.

I'm thinking that at 6', the Ally McBeal look just wouldn't be becoming.  As long as you're not being asked to purchase an additional compensatory seat on your next 767 ride, you could be better off where you are.

I am moving from 295 to 170.  47 pounds have come off since June 3.  The rest are stubbornly clinging to any place they can get a foothold.  It is a tooth-and-nail fight but it's one I'm winning.  Knock on wood.
