Title: Would you pose naked?
Post by: Promethea on October 14, 2015, 10:03:45 PM
As you may know, I'm looking for a job so I can move to Sweden where I will do my medical transition. It's proving to be really hard, having been already left out of a few recruiting processes for being trans. But I've been looking at asking to be repatriated and there may be something there.

Well, today I got a message from a friend from Sweden. She has talked about me to some friends and one of them said I can live in her farm at first, paying a quite low rent (actually all rents are low in that area).

She also said she could hook me up with some jobs to do the same thing she does on the side (for a decent pay): posing naked. Not for porn. She mentioned drawing, so I guess it's for an art school or maybe painters.

I've transitioned socially, but I haven't been able to afford doing anything to my body yet, so at first I thought it was crazy, that my friend's friend either didn't know I'm trans or wanted to confuse some art students. However, the more I think about it, the more it tempts me.

It would be good for giving visibility to trans bodies. I'm also a naturist, so showing myself naked in the right environment wouldn't be a huge trigger.

There's also a project I have. Once I begin hormones I want to do over of those a-selfportrait-a-day projects to document changes to my face and maybe my chest. If I were to keep doing modeling, and if they allowed me to keep a copy of at least some of the drawings, I think it would be a nice complement to that.

What do you think? What would you do?

I'd recommend it if people didn't have cameras. All it takes is one nude photo posted on the Internet.

Hi Promethea,

People have been posing nude for art classes for a long time.  I went to art school for a year and we were constantly doing life drawings of naked people.  The whole environment was focused on drawing.  The atmosphere wasn't about sex, you were concentrating too hard on drawing.  If you're comfortable with it, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Good luck,
Paige :)

Sounds like boring naked work to me; if I were to get paid for being naked, I would like to have a little bit of fun. :)

I'm getting my top fixed in November and would most def. feel comfortable after that, even with grody scabs.  I like creepy morbid stuff, so even if I have some crazy fresh incisions if I could hold still long enough I'd do it :D

Ha ha ha kittenpower... XD

I'd say if you feel inclined to do it then do it.

Concerning cameras etc there are two opinions:
-there are so many pics on the internet... and quite a few famous people admitted to it.
-well on the other hand depending on what you want to do it might be a slight hindrance... but if admitted to it, and if its art, would it be much of a hindrance ? People are getting more open in younger generations.

I would, I do, and we photograph it. No pay involved, just a rope bunny and a photographer/lover. I think a body with both male and female attributes makes a wonderful art subject. Of course, I'm biased!

I've done a lot of nude photography in the months since SRS, it's been a way for me to sort of claim ownership of the new body, and it's been a really positive experience.

I myself wouldn't. How do you feel? Even tho I have been thru the transition almost 3 years, I am still not sure of myself. Once I have my final operation early next year, my GF/mentor Vikki says that we are going to a nude beach, NO ARGUING, NO BACKTALK!!! I cant even wear a bikini, I wear a 1 piece.(back looks like a bikini) Vikki jokes "Is it the Olympics already?"

If I were in better shape, I would do it.

Forget the "naked" part.  I've never met a woman over 50 who regretted posing naked when she was younger as long as the photos were taken in a respectable context.

The problem with art class work is not the naked part.  The students are there to learn how to draw and they tend to be pretty professional about it.

The real problem is, can you hold perfectly still without moving for twenty or thirty minutes at a time?   Yeah.  That itch on your nose that wasn't a problem before you walked into the classroom?  That is going to be a big problem.

Artists and students hate it big time when you have to move while they are drawing, and just try to get back into the exact same pose after taking a break.

It takes some skill to be an artist's model.  But I hope you do well with it.

Pre-everything, I would said no. But post-everything, I may say yes. Just maybe.
I'm not comfortable with my body and it's just triggering discomfort etc. You are lucky who hasn't so strong dysphoria. :O

Carly, I'm a trained actor, I have good control and awareness of my body. And I also meditate, so I can keep my mind away from an itch or needing to move, and certainly won't be "bored".

I've been thinking about it and I've said yes. Now my friend's friend wants to have a chat over Skype.

I probably wouldn't do it if it was here, but since it's Sweden I'm more comfortable. I know how they treat bodies with normality there.

I have done this, that is worked as an artists model. Though for me this might be slightly different as I am also an artist and have done countless hours at the end of a pencil drawing models (mostly at uni), so I know what its like from both ends of the easel (I also helped the tutor with tutoring the students while I was modelling).

I found with the job itself being naked was not the tricky bit, but learning how to hold poses hour after hour (with breaks of course), and find dynamic poses for the students, the most important thing to remember is that the purpose of life drawing is to show how the body hangs together, how shoulder blade angles are affected by the position of a toe, muscle tension under stress and relax, the whole being naked thing is just so clothes dont break up the lines of colour / tone / line of the body (well for me anyway)

Sure, but don't sue me if you poke your eyeballs out after seeing it.

Having been a student in a life drawing course I can say it is all pretty mundane for the model. A few quick poses and then some that need to last for twenty minutes or so... quite difficult if the pose requires balance or concentration. Also, you really want to have a warm room in the cooler months!

I've considered it in the past before transition but felt extremely self conscious. I was however in a Spencer Tunick group nude shoot at the Sydney Opera house five years back...

I'm in the 16th row from the top, 78th from the left... ;D

Yes just depends I guess, I really would like to have my beauty captured pre-op and then do it again post op with a photographer. I think it'd be pretty awesome to have pics of myself done in an artsy way. I don't know if I would share it with the world tho. In terms of something public, depending on what the project was for I'd do it

Posing in the same position for long periods can make you pretty sore. I've not done it, but I've heard many models try to take a non-prescription pain medication before a posing session. Of course, this is one type of job you can easily practice at home on your own beforehand.

I did it once as a boy. I got paid $50, but I had to bring a pair of men's underwear to the set, of which I had none. So make that a $40 profit. That money came and went, but those photos are forever. I don't mind.

About six months after starting hormones, a friend did a topless photo shoot of me for an upcoming book he's putting together about disenfranchised members of the LGBT community. He thought it was neat juxtaposing my breasts and my femininity with my then-broken wrist in a cast. This shoot was for free, because not only is he one of my very best friends, he also let me stay at his house for a month and a half when I had nowhere to go!

And I just noticed that both photographers are gay men. Go figure.

I'm not the standard for all girls here and I'm not rich but having turned to online webcammodeling in the trans area of those sites paid off quite well for me. I now make 30-40$ an hour while going on cam. Not that much but it adds up. After an evening I would already have made 100+$ . I'm setting everything aside for my chirurgical treatments I intend to undergo.

No, I have always been to shy to pose naked at any age.   At 68 it's pointless.

I don't know that I would pose for photos but I stood topless in front of a room full of people at Gender Odyssey when I was 16 days post-op. The embarrassment about my chest is gone.
