Hello everyone,
I started this topic because I have a few questions regarding hair and hair loss. I am a 23 year old mtf from Europe and I have been on HRT since the beginning of december 2014. I'm currently on androcur and progynova on a daily basis. Also a multi vitamin, biotine and possibly in the near future I will add finasteride.
Now 11 months in i'm experiencing massive hair shedding which I think started around march. It's starting to get really thin and I am losing a lot of hair. Granted I did see a few baby hairs pop up but it bleaks in comparison with what I am losing. Does anyone know what causes this? or are there girls who have been experiencing this aswell?
First I thought that it was my body adjusting to the hormonal changes (Telogen Effluvium) but I think that it should well be passed that now? I recently saw a dermatologist who diagnosed me with MPB but in my opinion I don't experience male pattern baldness hair loss, the hair is coming off all over (diffusely).
So my questions is are there girls who also have or had this problem? And what to do?
Mod edit: no dosages please
I have had mass shedding of the baby hairs when they reach the end of their lifespan. I assume it was the hairs that went away at the same time. When I was your age, still presenting male, I was losing hair but unaware of that loss. It didn't become obvious until I was 26. So mpb can happen unnoticed for a time. I hope for your sake that the shedding you noticed is just your hair getting ready to be longer, thicker, full and permanent!
You may want to add finasteride or dutasteride now.
I will try to get it asap, I need to wait on a call from my endo.
And Kellam I sure hope that is it the case, but what I am shedding now isn't only babyhairs it's also the longer hairs, which is really noticable. I suppose I need to give it more time and see.
I was just wondering if this is a problem more girls have, to be honest I couldnt find anything similar on the internet about it...
Any diet changes? Stress? This can cause it too:(

Have you had your thyroid levels checked recently? A hypoactive thyroid can cause hair loss. Mine were within normal limits in May and by August they were off the charts high. I've been on thyroid medication for two months now, and my hair loss is starting to slow down as my levels get closer to normal.
Yes I believe my dermatologist had that checked and they were normal, prehaps I will have my endo check it again just to be safe at my next appointment.
