This opinion piece is a couple of months old but is simply outstanding in its militant optimism for winning the fight.

QuoteAnd we won, and we're going to keep winning, and you're going to join us either willingly or kicking and screaming, but these changes are going to happen.
Your sermons and your money and your power is no match for the true love the lgbtq community feels.
Join the movement of love or get pushed out the goddamn way of the relentlessly lgbtq community and its allies.

That feels great to read.

I do agree in the long run, the arc of history bends toward justice.

But untold damage can be done to people in the meantime. The dark ages lasted more than 750 years, where after centuries of Roman democracy, the only human rights you had were what you could enforce with your own weapon. With the way that religious folks currently outnumber humanists, I can't discount the possibility of a second dark age.
