Keratosis pilaris
noticed my thighs and upper arms wouldnt get smooth, seemed like constant stubble, I then realized it looked more like blackheads, so I started acne treatment.... which made it worse. Then I said, it looks like chicken skin and I typed that into google.... I
now have it on my upper back and some of my chest
seems it a is fairly common disorder where your cells overproduce skin at the follicle and cannot shed it naturally, causing a hard bump around the hair shaft, no cure.... can be managed with work...
Keratosis pilaris causes numerous small, rough, tan or red little bumps around hair follicles on the upper arms, thighs, buttocks, and cheeks. Keratosis pilaris creates the appearance of gooseflesh, goose bumps, or chicken skin. Keratosis pilaris is seen in patients with other dry skin conditions and atopic dermatitis.
This was why I was so frustrated when I began epilating, seemed that stubble was appearing almost instantly afterwards.... well, due to the hard "plug" in the follicle, the hair was breaking off and not being pulled.
this was all of my thighs, upper arms, some of my back shoulders... now it seems to be happening elsewhere as the plucked hairs are trying to come back :(
Im trying some "web" remedies and will see how they work out
I used to have that condition too. Over years of hrt, it's cleared up save for the odd hair here and there. I tried many remedies but none cured it. Coconut oil helped the most however. good luck.
Thanks! :)
I am using coconut oil.
I us that on my upper body and I am using PEE :'( on my legs and butt....
its a test to see which works better
yes, I said pee.... I read the best thing is urea, which is in pee
Well, it appears after 2 days, the PEE half is winning, lol ??? ::) :o :D
the coconut half is improved, but the bottom half is better
who knew... I have desires to use my "squirt" elsewhere.... hmmmmmm
It shows when I shave. I found that going to a skin care specialist and getting professionally waxed keeps my thighs clear and legs looking clean/smooth. And lasts way longer than anything else, so it's a 2 for 1 deal. And i find it relaxing, more so than mani/pedi. So I pass on the nails and save my pampering funds for waxing.
Huh, me to apparently. I never knew this was a thing.
When I started shaving my arms I also discovered that they are littered with scars, thanks to being super accident prone, and years of self injury.
Well, I gave up on the PEE :D
second day it showed promise, but after the fourth the Vitamin E Cream half pulled ahead
Im now on 5th day of Coconut Oil 15 minutes before shower, Vitamin E Cream after shower and before bed
its showing alot of progress today. I also stopped ALL smellie lotions and soaps, which was hard for me. :'(
Im showering with regular Ivory soap
looks and feels much better today, silky smooth and nearly bump free. Its nice to look at...
I re-epilated a few patches here and there to see how they turn out, the seem to hurt less and come out easier with nicer skin
( someone may have told me that but Im a learn it forherself girl... or stubborn )
so Ill see how it goes and report back
