OKay, as much as I admire her for not being ashamed of herself, I think she's officially jumped the shark now.
This won't end well for us.
Losing what little respect I had for her, I am already tired of every story about a trans person or issue mentioning her in someway.

I too am weary of Cait coming up in any discussion. My own mother denigrated Cait's television listing. We didn't watch it, we were just scanning the list for something to watch. I couldn't believe her tone when she said what she said.
Still, Cait has her own path. She can milk this as far as it will take her. She is a very public figure and what choice did she have other than to step out and face it head on?
I remember the Rene Richards scandal that broke in amateur golf many years ago and knew that I did NOT want to be like her or get that sort of attention. The coverage of Richards set me back by years. It is rather unfortunate that it did. So Jenner's exposure and negative publicity could hurt someone attempting to come to terms with themselves and for that I am truly saddened.
On the other hand, this media frenzy will be over in a year or so. And we need public figures. Who wants to take that stage? I could never consider doing a nude centerfold but that is the conservative fundamentalist in me growling. I think, "At her age?" and then I have to quell the inner demons in me that still fester from time to time. I remember when Joan Crawford did her centerfold for Playboy years ago. She was no spring chicken either and all the frenzy about her produced a net positive. Who knows how this will turn out?
It is her life to live. She will have to live with the fallout. Perhaps all this attention placed on her shoulders will produce a net positive for the rest of us as well. Does anyone remember Rene Richards? Not so much. But her story was a pivotal point in history. A film was made about her life which I ultimately used to show to my coworkers. Perhaps that delay in my transition wasn't a total loss.

I wish she had a bit more dignity, but she married into a clan that's not exactly known for it. Honestly, I don't think she's all that smart, and I worry that she's being manipulated by people who are more about making money off her than acting in her best interest.
I don't see the problem with it, to be honest. If it contributes to the de-radicalisation/sensationalisation ("Eww, a she-male!! Look at it!!") of transgender bodies and/or acknowledges ("Women over 35? Uggo! Who cares?") the bodies of older women, I think it can be a positive thing. There is such a thing as a tasteful, artistic nude.
Whether or not it IS a tasteful, artistic nude is yet to be seen, but we shall see, we shall see.

It seems like a desperate plea for attention.
And yes, she's pre op and I don't think the public is quite ready for that kind of nude just yet. Even if they do it tastefully I don't see it ending well, with her being laughed at and scorned instead of being admired.
I've said more than once that we need more Lynn Conways and fewer Caitlyn Jenners.
Cait seems to be making her mark showing off her body. Lynn showed off her brain. I hate being viewed as just the sum of my body parts. It makes me most happy when people enjoy listening to me talk about my passions like science and tech, rather than what kind of dress wearing or how much makeup I have on.

I'm trying to reconcile her as an awkward third-wave feminist. I'm afraid that she's just a misogynist who treats women as sexual objects. OTOH... woman over 50 doing nudes? Sweet. Transwoman doing nudes for anything other than "t***** porn"? Sweet.
I'm channeling all of my naive optimism to think that this might help other late-blooming transwomen find hope that their own bodies can be beautiful. There is good that will come out of this... hopefully it outweighs the bad.

This is very true . I think given here status and her platform to help I think honest opinion would be welcome to become aware of what the community is honestly thinking. There is no room for bashing or false speculation, but I think honest discussing of the needs and perceptions of how the community perceives would be helpful in furthering the true needs of the community and the support of everyone no matter where they fit in. And also there should be plenty of room for entertainment based on the community.

There is quite a difference, Devlyn. First and foremost, Caitlyn is pushing herself as an ambassador of the "community." I am saying that by posing nude, probably with her penis in view she doesn't represent ME, and she probably doesn't represent a lot of the community either, and it will do more damage than good.
By posing nude I think it would send the wrong message. That is all. She's free to do so obviously, but I think it would just look bad.
Eventually there will come a time when people will be 100% accepting of women who have penises posing nude, but for now, I think it will attract a lot of negative attention.
And if THAT is in violation of the TOS, I really don't know what to say, other than, so long, it's been fun. Unfriend me from FB too if you're going to enforce the rules on me for expressing my opinion. I'm done.

There is quite a difference between something for the community and something meant to showcase us to the public.
I think that Jenner's publicity over her transition hasn't really been all that beneficial to the community. People are talking, but people are talking about the wrong thing. The difference between her and a trans porn star is that Jenner is acting as an ambassador to the community and people will use her as a template for many of us.
That doesn't mean that Jenner is less valid, or that Jenner shouldn't be out and proud, but it's the whole way it's being done - it almost seems as though she's trying deliberately to be scandalous. That's fine in your personal life, but don't put yourself as an ambassador of the community. Jenner doesn't speak for me.
I am constantly disappointed with the TG community and its petty bickering and criticism of any person who stands up and boldly come out in a public arena. Each of us believies their journey is special, and yes it is, but we need people who dare come out boldly and who have the courage to face the criticism of the general public and to expose themselves to physical and emotion harm everywhere they walk. It is especially sad they also have to confront other TG and feminists who, instead of supporting, chastise them with equal viciousness. Anyone who dares to boldly come out and spread our story and educate the general public deserves our respect and support. We all have egos but before you criticise, think if you were very well know, would have you the courage to boldly come out, or do you prefer to lurk in the shadows or maybe just keep quiet and help no one.
I am proud of Caitlyn, and I do accept that some of her activities may not represent my special story. But I find it interesting to watch someone who is a TG, like me, adjust in life and I can learn and acknowledge what I had to go thru and may have to face. Remember she is 66 years old and if she wants to pose nude, and still looks great --good for her. She has earned it.
I see no reason why Caitlyn Jenner, or any transgender person need to be ridiculed, no matter how 'gently' on this Forum.
She walks her path as we all walk our individual journey.
I wish her every happiness in her life, she can choose to do whatever she wishes and it is not my right or anyone else's to criticise that.
