Title: What's up from the sunshine state!!
Post by: chikushou on November 04, 2015, 01:14:39 PM
Hi everyone! I'm new to whole thing, and genuinely confused. I have not come out to my family but am in the process of gathering courage.

I'm a 23 almost 24 year old ftm. I spent the majority of my childhood presenting as male and my mom was so awesome with it and allowed me to explore that so when puberty hit I went to presenting as a female and my childhood mared as a "phase". I grew my hair out and puberty hit me full force and then I began to regret it about my 7th grade school year. I refused bras until I could no longer ignore it then wore a sports bra until my mom forced me into a more supporting bra.

I spent the last 7 years just trying to make being a girl work and have had anxiety, depression, and borderline adhd. I hate dresses and anything vaguely feminine. I liked my long hair, but am cutting to present more masculine.

I'm super scared because I know very little of passing and my job will not accept me for who I am so I am looking for a new job and also having to tell family. I'm also very curvy and currently overweight so if anyone has any exercises to help me lose weight and gain muscles in the right place will be appreciated!

One of the first things I can suggest is, depending on where you live, find a transgender support group.  There are a lot of them all over the state so do some searches or possibly someone on here will be able to point you to one.  Be sure it's an open group and hopefully one familiar with the challenges for FtM.  Good luck and welcome to Susan's.  You're among friends and family here.

Hi Chikushou,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Somewhere in your local community health / support organisations, either Govt or private, there should be a Transgender advocacy group that can help you with all the legal requirements of transitioning in the workplace and community. They should also be available to assist in the therapy and advice areas of transition.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Speak to you as soon as I pick the kids up from school

Lotsa huggs
Catherine
