I am curious as my wife had an odd reaction when I suggested to her that I want some appropriate nightwear other than my male PJ's in the form of a nightshirt/nightie or some proper women's style PJ's. So I began to wonder what everyone else wears to bed...just for the fun of the topic.
I prefer either a long shirt/t-shirt and knickers for summer or a proper nightie for the winter...other than than that....butt naked...sorry no one deserves that image in their head.
At the moment what I do wear is a pair of "Mr Strong" shorts and a t-shirt in deference to my wife having issues...I intend for this to change as I continue to transition.
Sarah T
I wear my work clothes to work- a polo shirt and a pair of sweatpants
I just wear a pair of old running shorts. That's the most comfortable for me.

Nothin" from nothin' leaves nothin'! >:-)
As many layers as possible because I'm always freezing
Ideally I suppose just boxers? A man?
I usually wear nothing unless there's a problem with the heating and it's freezing outside. Depending how cold my apartment is I'll either wear nothing or as much as I can pile on. The furnace went out last year in 0 degree weather and I had on full clothing plus a winter coat, not fun.
Sometimes just a pair of boyshorts and a nylong tank top, most of the time very lightweight capri leggings and the nylon tank top and if it's really cold a pair of felt bottoms with a pink long sleeve top. Which is really funny because my wife hates pj's so she wears men's boxer shorts and Hanes ribbed men's tanks. ???
Bev
Something comfortable/Something comfortable.
Silky and/or soft.
Chanel No5 ;)
I often just wear a sleeping bra (which I have to wear with the girls).
Otherwise I can sometimes sleep in a nightie, silk PJs, cotton PJs, etc.
Bed pants and a t shirt other nights a nitie
Hi there I started to wear women's PJs at first as the Wife found them acceptable but just lately I have started Wearing just the PJ top as it looks and feels more like a Nightie to Me and so far had no adverse comment from the missus so hopefully I will be able to get her to accept a nightie soon
I've tried various fancies over the years but found most of them either got bunched up or fell apart, ended up being most comfortable with undies and a tank top during the summer and undies with a thermal top in winter
Mostly just panties and a long shirt. Nothing else really needed where I am...though sometimes sweats if it is really cold.
I'm with Jill, something silky and comfortable....
Katy xx
t-shirt and panties. Unless it's really cold, then I'll wear leggings
I with both Jill and Katy on this. Something silky, soft, and comfortable. Hugs
Mariah
Usually a tank top and my panties. Now my wife bought me a cute girly pj. Tank top and loose, comfy shorts. And no bra (im still pre everything so nothing to hold yet :'( !! )

I pass out in my jeans all the time which apparently makes me weird. Frankly would just sleep in my day clothes except I've gotta remember to take of my binder before I go to bed.
Realistically, most days, I sleep in a ribbed tank top ("wife beater"), gym shorts (or jeans), and sweatshirt. Cold in my house.
Cami and undies. Sometimes, after a bad day in boy mode, a babydoll nightie.
Wizard of OZ Flying Monkey outfit
In the short summer here we try to save on A/C and my spouse and i generally wear nothing. In the winter i go with long feminine night shirt type nighties generally. If it is very cold at night, i might go with full pajamas.
I'm a nazi with the thermostat since my body temperature is always messed up lately, lol. So I keep it set to where I can sleep in just a pair of undies, and adjust the thermostat as needed, as opposed to my choice of clothing, hehe.
I would love to get a set of satin PJs though, just a nightie and shorts, and take them for a spin. Not sure I could actually sleep in them, but I'd like to wear them around the house before bed I'm sure. Otherwise, I have a ninja turtles cotton nightshirt I wear around the house sometimes, lol. I love it!
I just wear my thongs and sometimes nothing 😉😉
Since my SRS, just one of his old T-shirts.
In my single, crossdressing days, I tried nighties, but found that I tossed and turned too much: I'd wake up trussed up with it wrapped tghtly around me! :) Eventually, my favourite in cool weather was flannel PJs. In warmer weather, I'd wear silky PJs.
These days, my wife can't stand the cold, so she keeps the thermostat turned up. As a result, I don't wear nuthin'.
Blankets.
Just panties and my night cream. I'm boring.
I wear a long tee in bed while I'm reading because it is swiving cold in the house at night. But when it's lights out, the shirt comes off. I don't heat my house during sack time and rarely during most days. I'd rather spend my money on other things.
Cindi
Nothing. There have been times I'd try to wear something (briefs as a male, undies or a T as myself)...I might go to sleep with them on, but by morning they'd be off and stuffed into the foot of the bed.
It all depends if I am on my own or not. If I am on my own, the Airline I travel overseas on, always gives Business Class passengers really nice soft cotton PJs - I have about a dozen pairs. The trousers and tops are very comfortable. However if I am with someone in bed then I wear a Baby doll negligee or pretty nighty with a G string on, but depending on how amorous my partner is, we normally end up both without our panties/G-string and other sleepwear. Its just I like to encourage those soft hands to do a bit of wandering!!!
Judith
I used to wear semi sexy nighties.. now.. long cotton night gowns are my favorite...
unless my wife comes to bed naked.. then I prefer to be matching..
It all depends on what is clean, usually a night gown,no cotton or flannel. I sometimes wear jammies, or loose track pants to bed.
A sleep shirt.
i like to wear a big t-shirt and shorts, i guess. never really put much thought into it tbh
I like just a cami or silky nighty in the summer :)
I wear whatever I want to sleep. Sometimes its just my panties and a sleep time bra, sometimes its my yoga pants, sometimes even one of my long skirts and tank top.
Kate <3
Just panties when I sleep alone, in the buff when I sleep with my BF ;)
Hugs,
- Katie

Just for those, who have an non supportive SO, what I wear to bed has evolved as she has become some what accepting. It started with a cotton night shirt,(she called it a gown). Then to a satin gown, progressing to more frilly lacey sexier night wear. She hates it so, I some times dress down back to cotton nightshirts, esp in the frozen tundra of the canadian north.
That being said nothing like a baby doll and panties to fell special. before sleep.
Before separating, nothing...... Now panties and sports bra..... so that I ready to step onto my x-trainer in the morning.... have reason and incentive now - figure and fitness level to maintain....!! K xx
I have just worn my first nighty to bed with My Wife I was expecting at least a dirty look of comment but nothing at all so I think I dodged that bullet LOL
About 16 months ago I switched to 100% female night ware. As I'm not fully out to my children yet, I stick to T-shirt or tank top style cotton night gowns or pj's that match my wife.
My wife has been very accepting of this as long as I don't get anything lacy.
So far the kids have not asked many questions. The did ask about the night gowns ( "What's that you're wearing to bed daddy?" ) and I just told then that I was wearing long night shirts. Thankfully my kids have just accepted it and haven't asked any additional questions.
Some day I'll be able to wear cute silk and lace nighties...
"My wife has been very accepting of this as long as I don't get anything lacy."
Hi Rachael Anne
I don't get this whole you can wear something so long as its not too girly or lacy? My wife had the same reaction, I really get the feeling that it is still hangover from the days when anyone in drag was always a caricature and usually wearing something overtly sexual and lacy. I don't know I am guessing...I have some really feminine dresses and tops which don't seem to bother her. Put a bit of lace on it and I suddenly become every caricature of a "man in a dress"
My wife now says she has no issues with me wearing a nightie now that she knows I don't want a lacy frilly baby doll nighty but a more practical if girly one. The PJ's I picked out have a cute animal on the font and are in some really pretty colors but again no lace and she was happy. Does lace hold a special importance of some kind that I am totally unaware of?
I have to admit the other day we were having this kind of discussion, I lost the plot a bit saying I was fed up with all this crap with the clothes. I am transitioning, I am going to need to buy and wear appropriate clothing but once again everyone else's sensibilities always come before my needs. That may sound a bit cruel but unfortunately it is true. Me not wanting it to be true doesn't make it so...I guess part of the anger and frustration is when will it become Ok?
Is the lace symbolic in some way? Personally I like a bit of lace but too much is not my thing and seriously I have worn some very sexy nightwear with plenty of lace over the years and I must admit as far as comfort goes I have not worn anything I would rate overly high.
It is very hard to take baby steps and keep everyone happy when the majority of your wardrobe is limited to T-shirts, jeans and leggings and everything else I have including most of my dresses, skirts and pants don't fit very well because I have lost so much weight. Once I get to my goal weight and have maintained it for awhile I will buy a new wardrobe that I can hopefully co-ordinate a bit better(but no lace!!! HA HA)
Sarah T
It really depends on the time of year and how cold it is! Having said that, it is either tap pants and a camisole or a longer gown.....that is unless my partner is in an amorous mood where then it could be a range of things!

This is a really interesting question and one that i ponder a bit too. My spouse seems to try and influence me toward the androgynous end of the feminine style and sometimes, gosh darnit i just want to be super girlie. I suspect it all comes back to " i really would rather you stay a man, if given the choice" and that saddens me.
Still, i should be thankful for the support i do get and I am.
I also have the same thing with My Wife and Clothes she is fine with Me wearing feminine clothing as long as it is not overtly feminine as previously mentioned lace and frills . Skirts and Dresses are still a very strict NO NO she said You can wear them when you are alone but actually I am OK with what I am wearing anyhow . I think that Wife's still try to Keep a little bit of their "Husband" I know that is the case with My Wife She said the other day when We where having a " Discussion " I cannot see the Man I married in You any more all I see is a Woman when I look at You . This has led to a lack of Physical contact as she said I only fancy MEN . We have come to a agreement to have a Date night once a Week where I will wear a pair of plain Jeans and an old SHIRT no makeup and we will have a glass of wine a nice film maybe a snog and see what happens .Neither of us wants to lose what We have so We will see what We will see
When it is cold I wear a long sleeve night shirt and one of my fluffy warm pajama bottoms. In mid weather I am usually in boxers and a CAMI or a nightie & on a hot summer night its undies or less.... Depending on who else might be spending the night ;D
In the summertime I may go almost all day without so much as a stitch, but I always put on elastic waist baggy shorts and a t-shirt at bedtime. I guess I like to be ready for any emergency.
I have been wearing tights and panties and my night gown lately to bed and if I am feeling like an adventure I will sometimes wear a bra with some breast forms that I bought that are very comfortable to wear at times as well to feel more femme. But most nights I will wear my night gown to bed. Or just panties and a bra. It all depends on my mood or sometimes I will just sleep naked lol
I am like Devlyn, just wear what the good Lord gave me. I sweat so much while sleeping it is not uncommon to wake up in a puddle.
Always panties, usually a bra which usually feels more comfortable for me at night. Sometimes a nightgown, chemise or camisole, usually I'm too tired by the time I get to bed to want to change. I prefer chemises most but again, usually too ->-bleeped-<-ged by the time I sack out to be bothered putting one on.
I have a couple of realLY soft Vanity Fair nightgowns I've had forever. When it's cold I wear some fleece pajama bottoms under them. And....oh yeah, some big old OVERSIZED comfy nylon granny panties. Dang....I'm tired now! ZZZZZZzzzzzz.............
I wear a pair of pants or boxers and sometimes a shirt.

Yes, exactly that. I have to be careful with the shirt because I might wake up in the middle of the night sweating and then it's hard for me to sleep again.
Briefs, and in warm weather, a cotton tank top. In cold weather, a pajama gown that hits below the knee.
Just exactly what i wore at birth minus a couple of nuts and added curves ;D
Panties and nothing up top. I usually wear a bralette or soft fitted tshirt.
Nothing for many years. Panties only recently.
Prefer nothing but wear panties.
A nightie and undies. I can't stand not wearing underwear to bed because then I can feel 'it' when I move, which is a trigger for dysphoria.
Mid length nightgown. No undies, but the girls are just starting to come in so a bra may be in the near future, mostly for protection. 😀

I prefer to sleep simply naked, it's the most comfortable way for me :) Only during winter I wear a T-shirt in such case :)
Im with you, naked all the way, in winter I just scoot up to my wife.
I prefer one of my nylon nighties, or a cami and panties. I also have a VS satin PJs in their classic pink stripe most of the time when I wear it I wear the top only with panties.
Hugs,
Laurie
Undies and a T-shirt
I prefer to sleep in just panties. But after I got boobs my dad came in to wake me up one morning and was not a happy man. He told me I had to start wearing a T-shirt to bed every night. So now its panties AND a T-shirt.
Depends on how cold it is and how much alcohol was involved lol
Nothing, and nothing.
Nowadays I mostly wear wrap dresses to bed. Those wrap dresses are for going out, but are so much comfortable to wear as sleeping gown, too. For example, I am now wearing the following dress.

barbie~~
Just a happy smile
Before a pair of shorts but since I came out I've been trying different things. Right now just an old t shirt, panties and a pair of Doctor Who boxers my wife got me for Christmas a few years ago.
What I wear: T-Shirt and a pair of boxer briefs, sometimes a pair of basketball shorts (sweatpants in the winter).
What I want to wear: Cami and a pair of panties, sometimes a comfy pair of short runnings shorts (leggings in the winter).
Perhaps someday :)
Tank top and sweats. Or tank top and shorts. Orrr tshirt and shorts. What I prefer is what I wear.
Most of the time nothing. Sometimes I wear panties and an old t shirt
Carole Hochman "Midnight" two piece pajamas, unless it is really cold, then the flannels come out. :)
Once it's warm, definitely nothing.
But winter time it's a night dress for me :')
The main problem for me sleeping is not what I'm wearing or not, it's hair and even though they are tiny, boobs.
So frustrating sometimes :@ lol

I did not realise just how lucky I was to be a back sleeper. ;D Until I had long hair and boobs...being a side sleeper or front would be a problem for me when they are sore( which seems to be, like most of the time)

Aw yeah, even tiny they are annoying lol
Lately it's been a lace teddy, nights have been cooler and my gf likes windows open. I've also been wearing a dash of perfume.
Long hair and sleeping, yeah it's difficult, sometimes makes me think of a shorter cut. I've found the best solution is a french braid but I rarely want to spend that much time.
Boobs? Yeah I love being reminded I have them.
what i preffer. Silk nighty
what i actually do sleep it varies. from what I'm wearing at the time when I'm that i just collapse onto my bed.
And mostly just get under the covers, and reduce bottom clothing to just underwear. And as i get comfatable my tops slowly reduce to just bra aswell. And other time their comes a point a night were its just good to take you bra off
Leggings, for me, are super comfy. That, and a cami, and I'm good!
A blue satin(y) nightgown. But I don't wear it very often. Usually a sleep shirt, preferably my R2-D2 one. Yes, I'm a nerd girl!
I hate being restricted when I'm sleeping. I'd love a nightie but I can't even wear trackies to bed :-\ I usually wear a singlet and a pair of men's trunks (or a mesh thong, depending how I feel), though I'm on the lookout for a camisole to replace the singlet :D
That's what I wear even during winter, with the exception of a pair of socks should it get too cold (though I'm liking the concept of wearing leggings during winter :o)
Love my flannel pjs, but usually wear only the top as I sweat with addition of flannel sheets
A VS LBD with a nice deep v-neck in a thin-ish cotton fabric. It was probably one of their "you buy this and we give you this LBD at a low price" item, but it is so comfy. It definitely was not intended for that purpose but it feels so nice and sleeps well. It is also good for knocking around first thing in the morning. A thrift store find.
Wife beater & pants
A week ago I switched over to a super soft and comfy chemise! Makes me feel so much better about myself than boxers and a t-shirt. Now I'm wanting to go crawl back in bed. :D
Panties only. Nighties and lingere' can be fun but after just panties. Sometimes a night shirt but it seems to bundle up too much or me. If it is cold then I will wear panties and a T.
I wear a lose fitted shirt with black and grey stripped thigh high knee socks. My mom does not like it when I walk around the house dressed this way though because it is apparently revealing or something, but whatever.
I found some cute, lightweight and comfortable PJs at Walmart. Since my bed quilt is heavy, I usually only wear the top portion. Summertime is in the buff.
Love to all.
~Melanie
I usually wear a nightgown or a long sleep shirt and panties. Always makes me feel more feminine getting to wear something with a bit of lace trim.
I've gravitated over the last year to just sleeping nude most of the time. In cooler weather i just put on more blankets. For some reason it helps me sleep better.
When it started to chill down coming in to winter, my comfy flannel pj's! They are so soft and warm :)
Now that it is starting to warm up some, I find that I will wear the PJ top, but mostly just panties down low.

I'm with you, wearing clothing to sleep in finds me tangled up and feeling terribly restricted. Free form all the way ;D
Not sure why I haven't been doing this already, think I didn't want to get them too dirty or something since I get scared I'll ruin stuff washing it, but as of last night I am now wearing leggings to sleep. It's so comfortable, oh my god. Light weight and they breathe so don't get hot, and also prevent one of my #1 issues trying to sleep: leg touching leg and getting all weird and sweaty and uncomfortable (I'm in the south, it's already hot this time of year :D).
Gee this thread has turned long, didn't see every reply!Quote from: captains on November 09, 2015, 05:43:05 AM
I pass out in my jeans all the time . . .
lol I try to avoid that! But because I usually sleep in the 'lazy boy' recliner by the front door (like the pet dog guarding all night "comings & goings") I maintain some decorum like a 'collared white dress shirt', solid color underwear optional, do NOT like "patterned".
In my dreams took a 'selfie' the other night which I pasted on personal diary site HERE.
Now that the weather is getting warmer, I just wear panties and a tank top to bed.
Noelle
It varies depending on the weather and climate though usually I tend to go to bed wearing just a nightshirt and socks yet sometimes a flannel shirt and socks, and then occassionally just socks and other times entirely nude.
I usually sleep naked, unless I need to use pads then I wear underwear. If I'm very dysphoric about my chest I sometimes sleep with a padded bra on. If it's very cold I tend to just have an extra blanket on me. I like it that way cause it lets my skin breathe from having worn clothes all day, but I wouldn't mind wearing a silky nightie at some point. Need to buy one first though.
Nuttin Honey and Nuttin Honey.
In the summer usually just panties. In the winter I usually wear leggings because my legs get cold really easily. Sometimes a night shirt or other comfy shirt too.
just a sheet or a blanket
I exclusively wear lingerie. Everything from babydolls and teddies to Cami/short sets and rompers.
Kymmie
I just bought myself a babydoll lingerie dress, and I use it is a night gown now. It actually helps keeping my dysphoria somewhat alleviated when going to bed, which has improved my sleep. That's a very welcome bonus that I certainly did not expect from simply wearing some cheap, flimsy fabric at night. But I still prefer not wearing underwear when asleep, so that things can breathe down there.
When I can, a nightdress. And when I can't, tshirt and boxers. I really dislike the nights where I can't though. For some reason that gets to me more than any other time when I'm not free to dress how I would like.
I've just ordered an emerald green baby doll nightdress. I'm very excited for that to arrive :D
My boyfriend sleeps naked. When he first started spending weekends with me he always had some boxers handy to throw on when he got up to pee. One early morning he went to pee and forgot his boxers. Suddenly I hear " WTF DUDE! NO WAY! THAT'S JUST ###&?NASTY! " He had run into my brother in the hallway. Tristan was totally embarrassed but I couldn't stop laughing.😂😂 He's never forgotten his boxers again.
Switched to nothing or just panties, want nothing else. :D
I've been wearing panties and a tank top most of the time. I do also like wearing a nightie.

I had to change up from August of last year. Now I wear bikini briefs. Tried a thong once and nope.
A cotton chemise and short shorts has been very comfortable in the winter with the heat turned down to save money.
Panties (always nylon) and satin PJs, a silky babydoll or a silky long nightgown, depending on how cold it is.
Hugs,
Sarah From Chitown

I usually wear just a pair of panties and a cami. Or nothing at all. Im thinking that once my girls come in I may have to start sleeping in a bra.
I wear anything from a sleep shirt to rompers to satin nightgowns. Just feels right.
At the moment given the lock on the front door is dysfunctional and my neighbor likes leaving the outer hall door open, I sleep on the couch with some comfortable clothes on and a bat nearby.
When I was single living in male I always slept in the raw. Since I got married I started wearing underwear to bed. I guess thats having kinds in the house. Now its a T-Shirt and Panties.
*Nylon ones breath better,
I like wearing a t-shirt dress to bed its comfortable and looks feminine.[emoji156]

Now that it is ice cold in SW Florida (day time temps are barely going higher than the mid 70's), I sleep in long pyjama pants and a long sleeve t-shirt, because I don't want to freeze to death, if I get out of bed at night because of that spiro stuff!
Naked 😎
With decreased function and sensation it has become easier.Because I am not reminded of what I have of equipment.
I mostly wear white robes, but I purchased a blue and a red one from AliExpress.com.

I ordered a lightweight nightgown as it is beginning to be a bit warmer. This one is a nice cotton one that is long. You can lounge around the house in it too on those lazy days before dressing. I slept in it last night and I like it. I will keep my warm flannel gowns and one that is more satiny.
Chrissy
I have been wearing less to bed as the weather warms.
