Title: Hello from Oregon
Post by: TyorTay? on November 19, 2015, 12:47:38 PM
Hey everyone, I've decided to coming here as waiting to see the therapist for the first time feels excruciating (I will be seeing her within a week).

So my questioning began at about age 12. It's been off and on, and I dismissed it with stuff like "I have no sex life and am sexually frustrated." or "Yes, I'd like to be female, but I'll play the cards I have" or even, "I don't have dysphoria, it's a fetish", though now I am piecing things together and believe I may have dysphoria. 26, Male at Birth, living with  conservative parents (Who don't know). Lately the thought of my gender has consumed near every thought, though I don't feel confident saying that I am trans. Sometimes I believe 100% I'm the wrong gender, and sometimes that seems absurd.

I'm actually going to her for general therapy, but I made sure to search for one who has experience with transpersons.

Even if I do not do much in this community, I want to thank you all for being here.

Welcome to Susan's Place. The fact that you are seeing a GD and you found this board is a strong indication you are transgender. If you are transsexual, that you will have to decide. As  for dysphoria, not everybody feels it the same way. I wanted changes to my body but I didn't have discomfort with parts of it. What I had was a wrong feeling about the life I was living and how I fit in it. Sometimes the feeling was stronger than other times and sometimes I thought it was a fetish. In short I see someone much like me or many others on the site taking their first step to get better.

I think you will become more active in the community as time goes on and you become more comfortable with yourself. It may only take a few therapy sessions before you feel right at home here.

While you are waiting if you haven't already seen it, you might want to go to youtube and request "the transition channel". You will receive a number of questions that will give you something to think about and it will help make your therapy sessions more productive.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Hi there!

Generally, cisgender people don't question their gender or seek gender-related therapy. Of course, whether you're transgender or not is something only you can decide with the help of your therapist.

Welcome to Susan's from a fellow newbie!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

So I've thought about it, and yes, I am transsexual. There is no maybe. I've questioned it for over half of my life, it's time to just admit I am.

I am a former transsexual as treatment was effective and I am fully comfortable in my skin. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have that you think somebody 33 years out of date might be able to answer.
