Title: Trans Folk Born Chris
Post by: Kellam on November 23, 2015, 03:39:08 PM
Hey Y'all. This is a silly question. My birth name is Christopher. To make myself feel like a man I went by one of my middle names (Kellam actually) until I began transition. I wanted to be Chris again. At first I thought I would swap out the other one for the girl name I would have had if I had been born female. I also cut off the topher. I have done as much for the public and as a nom de plume. That feels pretty good, but as I moved to legal name change I got an iffy feeling. I realized that I wanted to stay Christopher.

Since then I have found some trans women who have stayed Chris. (Chris Tina Bruce, the body builder is my favorite)I have actually come across a trans man who is still going by Christina. There must be others who have swapped tina for topher and vice versa. I was wondering if there are any other trans Chrises around here? I have found myself quite comfy in a less binary identity and the trans man named Christina seemed to be in a similar boat. If there are other folks born some variation of Chris, how binary do you identify? I am a tomboy, that's how I see myself. I am a woman born with male parts, who felt like a girl who wanted to do boy stuff but still be a goofy femme.

I guess to hone my question: are there other born Chrises who are staying Chris in some way and how andro are you?

I'm not a Chris, but as I was born a Thomas, I can tell you I was excited as all get out the first time I saw (recently) a girl named Tomi... I am using Tommi myself, but have considered Tomi... either or, I get to keep my birth name, but it's feminized and that suits me just fine!

Hah!  I always used to hate the name Tommy, since my dad would use his sissy voice to say it.  I still kinda like Tomi... but I've known enough men named Tommy to make the name seem too masculine to me... but identifying as nonbinary, it seems like as good as one can hope for.

Sorry to hijack your thread, Kellam!  I know several men and women named Chris.  It seems like a perfect middle-gender name.

Naw, that's cool, I should have made it more name inclusive! Yay! My birth name is just special to me, I guess was the real point.

I was Peter went to Peta (similar reasons as you stated) I hated it quite quickly and now use my middle name Cindy.

As for Chris* you could try Kris* or Krys* (*) = whatever you want to add on

I hated my birth name with a burning passion. My only regret is that I didn't change my last name while I was at it.

With My name being Anthony and everybody at work knowing Me as Tony it was suggested that I use Toni instead as it makes life easier for everybody and I really like that name so I have adopted it as my name now. Unfortunately my Family and Wife know me as Steve and I cannot get the missus to call me Toni yet LOL my sisters are getting there at least.
