Title: Herbal Regiment
Post by: joshbuzzell on November 27, 2015, 12:09:36 PM
Heyas this is my first post here.

Ive been doing a whole ton of research and have decided to try out <Forbidden Topic> and supplement with saw palmetto to reduce dht.

Ive just recently outted myself with my wife and she is surprisingly understanding and supportive.

My goal is to feminize my body, meaning curves, skin, hair and hopefully fill out my breasts to a b cup.

I am not entirely sold on a complete transition via prescribed hrt as it would present alot of problems with my children and workplace but at the same time my head wants to explode with all the thoughts ive been keeping bottled up inside for 20 years.

In the past i was using a combination of fenugreek capsules, saw palmetto capsules and flaxseed oil applied topically. It resulted in an amazing difference in my skin and features.

Does anyone have any experience they can lend me on my herbal journey?

Welcome to Susan's!

iirc, PM is not allowed to be discussed.

Standard answer is to go thru the process and get on HRT, with medical supervision. Really, that is the only way to get those things you want. The idea that I heard was that herbs and phytoestrogens simply "prime" the E receptors in the body, so once you get on HRT the effects are better. There isn't any scientific research to back this up...anecdotally, in my case, i used red clover extract (2-3 drops in a small paper cup, with 2-3 squirts of lotion, apply and rub into the breasts)...if nothing else it made me feel good (and I had breast buds 2 months before HRT).

After 2 years HRT, I had B cups, now edging towards a C.

A "B" cup will be tricky to hide from work, or from anyone really.

Fyi, HRT won't give you a "complete transition"....it is your choice to use makeup, develop a feminine voice, or to get any surgeries. HRT will (usually) soften the skin, develop some breast tissue...but it wont give you curves unless you started before or during puberty. It should ease a lot of the anxiety you probably feel. Note that it will not cure any mental health issues you may have.

Hope this helps,

--Beth

Hello joshbuzzell,

welcome to Susan's!

Before I was sure about my need and ability to transition fully, I have experimented with herbs and spices, including some of those you have mentioned. My observation was that some herbal substances are quite potent, but very hard to control dosage-wise. I got hot flashes, sleeplessness, small and soft testicles, skin edema, but also some breast growth and changes to my skin. The experience has helped me decide that I was ready for permanent changes to my body, that full transition was right for me, but a good therapist might have been able to get me to that point years earlier, with less risk and fewer side effects.

I have been on HRT for two years now, and of course I have stopped using any herbal stuff before I started the real thing under the supervision of a psychiatrist and an endocrinologist. My positive results from HRT have much more pronounced and consistent than anything before, and I have not had any negative side effects at all.

If you want to find out whether transition is your path, get a therapist and sort it out as quickly as possible. If it is right for you, you will probably end up transitioning anyway, and you will regret any delay. You can start low dose HRT to ease into it and see whether you want to stop it before permant changes occur, or whether you need more.

It is your choice, of course.

You can also remove most of any body hair you have, that helps with feeling more femme. Remember to take care of your skin, especially hands and face! They get the most sun and wear, lotion + sunscreen are a MUST.

If you work somewhere physical, be sure to wear good gloves.

Oh by the way, there is a supplement that goes by various brands, but if you ask for something for "hair, skin, and nails" the clerks will show you which ones are for that. YMMV of course, but my hair seems to grow faster when I'm taking that.

Welcome to Susan's Place. I would advise against the Herbal route because the quality is inconsistent and there is at least one example where it resulted in a very bad outcome on this board. The other issue is it's not so much the need for hormones that drive you, it's the presence of male hormones in your system. To effectively control those levels, you need to use one of the blocker drugs which are prescribed through a doctor. The effect they have needs to monitored with blood test as a low dose of blocker won't do the job and a high dose than needed dose of blocker may have other undesired side effects. Many people report improvement off just the blockers so I suggest therapy with a gender therapist and then on a medically approved treatment program. To do otherwise risk your health and life.

I found that herbals resulted in a LOT of sweating and not much else.

Thank you all so much! Im not too concerned with work really i am who i am take it or leave it. If my wife was able to understand then everything else is easy in comparison.

I will look into consulting with a therapist for hrt im just fearful of losing the ability to have an erection as is my wife.

Viagra and Cialis are known to help in that dept...sometimes you can get free samples from your Dr.

A therapist for the purpose of sorting out your thoughts and feelings before HT may be more beneficial as any hormone therapy may cause a detrimental affect to your libido. Once you start this journey, there's no going back. You need to be mentally prepared for all the challenges ahead.

Wanting your cake and eating it at the same time is not sustainable. As for your children, depending on their age, they are the first ones to see through any facade you try to present. So anything less than being totally authentic is both a disservice to yourself and an insult to those that love you.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Speak to you as soon as I polish the silver.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine
