Title: Post ffs surgery lumps under chin/jawline - PLEASE HELP
Post by: bamar86 on November 29, 2015, 12:10:28 PM
Hi everyone,

I had surgery beginning of September. I just want to note I am really happy with the work the doctor has done on my face. However I have ran into one problem. So any advice or previous experience with this sort of thing will be much appreciated. I ended up seeing my local doctor a month or so back and had ct scans and ultra sounds to find out I have bone fragments or calcium deposits in fluid filled sacs or cists under my chin. I contacted the doctor overseas for help and was told this is a normal occurance and they will go down on there own. I also had a second opinion before contacting the doctor overseas, who told me they think it's blood clots which shouldn't be life threatening.

My main concern is that in the past few months I've see little to no progress on these lumps just disappearing on their own. My local doctor has put me on a waiting list to have them cut out. Which I'd like to avoid if possible. I'd prefer not to have a scar under my chin.

Any advice is welcome. Especially  if anyone has experienced this before or knows of someone else who has.

I've attached a photo of under my chin to see below.

Thanks  in advanced.

Best regards

Chloe

Really sorry you are having this problem.

I took the time to look up your earlier pictures.

That picture you just posted is very different from the picture you posted back in September.

This current picture is not a normal presentation.  No alarm intended, but you asked.  The redness and swelling now evident at the surface of the skin - -  and apparently spreading down your neck is something that I would be concerned about.

Unfortunately, the fact that your surgeon is out of the country makes this very difficult for you to get this addressed in a timely manner.

If it was me,  I would want to promptly (tomorrow) get some blood work done to see if there is an infection ongoing or some other inflammatory process.

Can you post up the x-rays or CTs you had done ?

I wouldn't worry about possible scar under chin. Underchin incision for trachea shave leaves practically invisible scar. Yours wouldnt be any different than that.

Forget about the scar and get this resolved as soon as possible. Your FFS surgeon's suggestion to wait and do nothing about it.... I will keep my comment about that to myself.

Best wishes!
