Title: Chest hair
Post by: Aeirs on November 30, 2015, 02:42:22 PM
Hi everyone!
I have a question about hormones and chest hair, do you have to get electro/lazer for chest hair or do the hormones take care of that?

I'm still pre everything but am starting to get all my ducks in a row

It made mine virtually disappear.  I didn't have a whole lot to begin with though.

Mine virtually disappeared too. I've had two (or perhaps three) laser sessions around my nipples, but other than that, virtually all my abdominal and chest hair disappeared on its own. I still shave some areas once every two weeks since there are a few hairs left, but it's manageable, as the leftover hairs grow slowly, and you'd have to get very close to see them. When shaved, they're virtually invisible. I still have a few hairs growing at an annoying rate around my nipples though, but they're mostly white, and I can't be arsed with electrolysis at this point. YMMV, but I'd at least wait until you've been a year on hormones if I were you - it could save you some money better spent other things.

The same goes for the legs by the way - while you probably won't get hair free on hormones, you may well find that you end up with a similar amount of leg hair to most cis women. At that point of course you could choose to do hair removal nevertheless (I'm considering it, but not until SRS is over and done with, I need the money), or just shave.

Amazingly most of mine has gone away now too with just HRT.  I had a pretty hairy chest and abdomen too when I started but now it's mostly gone.  If I leave it alone for a week or two I'll get a few but they are very fine now and easy enough to clean up with a razor in the shower.

My body hair in general seems to be thinning fast, i was fairly hairy on chest and stomach and after waxing for some time it is just not growing back very aggressively. I'm starting to see Vellus hair replacing the old stuff also.

How long did it take for the chest hair to slow down? I'm having good luck with my leg hair slowing down and arms but the chest is still kind of normal yet.

I waxed fairly regularly before HRT so i am not sure what impact that had. I used an epilator at times too. I probably notice major slow down in growth around month 8th.

I did electrolysis for mine, had moderate chest and abdominal hair to begin with. After 2 yrs, HRT hadn't made a significant difference so I began electrolysis. Was on moderately aggressive HRT regimen and quite young.

I honestly can't say exactly when because I got in the habit of running a razor over my chest every day in the shower.  I think I really started noticing a difference sometime in the spring.  I remember thinking that it wasn't quite so prickly in the morning before showering so that would be somewhere around a year-ish for me?

I'm a little over a year and a half now and I have been in a hurry and didn't use a razor on it a few times and nothing has come back in that extra day where before I definitely would have had stubble otherwise.

Of course after I asked it seemed to be slowing down in the last couple days lol.

After about 6 months of HRT, I wasn't noticing a huge improvement. Due to my genetics I had very thick/coarse black chest hairs. It was too stressful to wait for HRT to get rid of the hair because I was embarrased to wear any tops that would show off my chest, so I had a few laser treatments on the chest, and most of the thick ones are now gone.
