"The state's largest high school district is considering a settlement in the case of a transgender student seeking unfettered use of the girls' locker room.
Palatine-based Township High School District 211 has scheduled a special board meeting to vote on a proposed agreement Wednesday — the last day for the district to reach a compromise with federal authorities before facing enforcement, which could include the loss of millions of dollars in federal funding."

"The first US school district to face civil rights penalties for refusing to grant full locker room access to a transgender student has accepted a compromise with the US Education Department, an eleventh-hour move to avoid an unprecedented legal battle and the loss of millions in federal funds."
Every once in a while the good guys win.
We're getting a new president soon. If the new president disagrees, he/she can rescind the Ed. Dept. policies. If that happens, I would expect these schools to backpedal quickly and change their policies back.
So if you're eligible to vote, VOTE!!!!
I wonder if those parents that are all up in arms about the school district accepting the decision and changing the policy would be willing to personally fund all of the costs that would arise from the school district keeping the discriminatory policy in place? The article quotes some parents as berating the school board prior to the vote which strikes me as unfair - it's easy to be critical when you are standing back and don't have any skin involved. Involve skin and the perspective changes.
It's telling when institutions that want to discriminate suddenly have a change of heart when faced with paying the costs of discriminating.

"School officials in a suburban Chicago district said Friday they may back out of a newly minted deal with the U.S. Department of Education allowing a transgender student to use a girls' locker room, over a dispute about a hypothetical: What would happen if the girl decided against using the privacy curtains she's agreed to use?"
