I had SRS on 10/20/2015 and lately I have been finding a lot of hair at the shower drain after a shower. Kind of scary don't you think. This has never happened before my surgery. I still have a full head of hair but wow!
I always been a shedder, the amount pre and post are roughly equal (a lot). Good thing I have a very thick mane.

Hi Lyndsey someone else started a thread about this last week or so. My gp says it normal after major surgery

Anesthesia is most likely the cause.

Thanks for the relieve I've been nervous
I had a lot of hair loss after surgery. My hair grows slowly, and the loss was most evident about 6 months post-op. My hairdresser said that it's common after anesthesia, and, SRS is a long surgery with lots of anesthesia. I also had a yeast infection post-op that was a big setback.
The good news is that, a year later, my hair was thicker than ever, no problems since.

Hi Magen
OMG I had a urinary track infection from the catheter and that was awful. But thanks for getting back to me as all of you do.

It took a while ... And by a while I mean a year or two ... But eventually I lost virtually all of my body hair after SRS. Not on my head, that actually stayed without the traditional male pattern baldness, but my legs, chest, back, arms ... All that hair disappeared. Interesting, because most GG's need to shave their legs ... but not me!
oh wow weird, never heard of that.
I kind of lose a bunch of hair in the shower anyway I feel like and I used to comb and brush it too much. Nowadays I try to minimize how much I do that in my routines.
Makes sense though that anesthesia may have an effect like that.
