Title: When will my face change? :/
Post by: Emmz on December 11, 2015, 08:03:29 AM
Soo...I've not got many pictures of before i started transitioning, but the one i could find i look the exact same...and its kinda bummed me out, I dont know if im being impatient or what but i see so many pictures and videos of like body builders who go through hrt and after 9months give or take(about how long ive been on it) they look like supermodles....ALAS. but here is the side by side comparison 3years ago and about a week or two ago?

They look changed to me.  But with the glasses and different angle it's hard to say.

The face appears to have  changed to me but if it hasn't, it appears you have drawn the femininity out of it because the second face looks feminine.

Often the correct hair and makeup can transform a face and I don't think you have a problem with your current look.

Emmz,

Try gaining some weight. In my own experience, gaining a bit of weight has transformed my face from an oval to almost round with the fat accumulating on my cheeks.

In turn, it also impacted the shape of my nose. It became smaller compared to my cheeks :)

Hope this helps.

April

Its funny you said this April I said the same thing to my GIC the other day,but im technically "obese" with a BMI of 31, I would call my self chubby....but either way Im in the UK and will need to lose about 10kg to be eligable for my eventual SRS ...so gaining weight really isnt an option,

I see.

Ok, I am actually looking closely at your pics and your face have changed to a more softer and more milky skin complexion. I think I'll second the make up suggestion. Probably learn how to contour your face and use a bit of a matte bronzer to give you that soft tan glow.

:) hope this helps.

I don't know maybe its the angle of the first one or my own bent out of shape perception , but I see a big difference.

It's impossible to tell from those photos. But 9 months is not all that long to be on hrt, and everybody has different amounts of change at different speeds. Plus you are going to see much more of a change from a bulky guy who does body building, that person will simply have more masculine features to lose. Usually anyway!

Sometimes it's hard to tell when you see yourself all the time and have a certain image of yourself (like looking the way you did) that can be hard to look past even if the differences are there. Even though I knew I changed, there have been times I'd look at myself in the mirror wondering 'what's really changed?' and it seemed like not much. But then I ask my friends and family and they say I look totally different, and I have had to take a second look and set aside my preconceived notions. You have to be able to accept that the little changes that you don't think matter overall really do make all the difference to everyone else.

I have been on HRT for 9months
some of the videos I've seen they didn't see any facial changes till between 8-12 months, but maybe you should try a different hairstyle and color.

Yes, it does, but the changes for some are VERY VERY VERY slow.

Like, I started out with a very guyish face. I didn't even get called "she" for the first time until almost an entire year on HRT.

I was mostly passable by about 1.5 years, but my face and body still looked mostly male to me at that point.

It's taken me until just recently, about 2.5 years into HRT, before I finally started looking back at those old pictures and being unable to recognize myself, and looking in the mirror and seeing someone who is more or less completely 100% female.

It took a LONG time.

I do want to say, though, the face is one of the parts of the body that HRT changes the least, unless you have a LOT of muscle and soft tissue in your face for some reason. Like, HRT is a basically a soft-tissue-changing process. Skin, muscle, and fat all change on HRT. Bone does not. A LOT of what your face looks like is dependent on bone structure... your chin, your forehead, your nose bridge, that's all bone. So while HRT will thin the face out to make it look softer and less "heavy" overall, there are usually still going to be a lot of parts of your "old face" that you can still see because they're bony parts of the face.

Also, and this is something that I'm still learning...

A lot of times even if the face does look completely 100% female, we'll always still think we look like men, and be afraid of it. It's a common affliction. Many many people that I've known have had this problem where they ALWAYS still think they look male, complain about it, and the response they get from other trans people over and over again is "WHAT? How can you possibly think that you look male? If I looked half as feminine as you....." But it happens. Some people, even after FFS, still think that they look male to themselves. So don't be too hard on yourself. Odds are that other people don't see the same face that you think you're seeing.

I've had to accept this myself. I still look in the mirror and think that I look like a guy. Obviously that's not really the case, but my mind can still see it.

So take it easy and let the process happen. It is happening. Just be patient, and don't let your own critical eye sabotage you.

I dunno about timing... but I will say that you look a lot like a (cis-) girlfriend of mine.  She rocks a boyish look, and she nails it.  Very pretty.

I think we are really hard on ourselves and like said above, we cant see the change. I sure didnt until I searched out those photos of the old me. So that was like yesterday and I spent the whole day amazed at some of the changes.
Up until yesterday I despised most of the girl pics of me and something just changed, and I opened the folder and loved nearly every single one.... I dont know what that was about.... ???

I know, Im not on HRT, mainly I just took the "clamps" off of myself, thats what I call them. I do alot of self talk and encourage the female to come out and I believe I can cause change to my body. I think this is important wether on hrt, getting ffs or even grs.... you also have to will yourself to change

from your pics I see a difference, but as stated, its hard to go by, can you find a old pic, then take a new one in a similar angle/size? they would help us and I bet help you. But we tend to beat ourselves up, I dont know why.

hang in there girl, it will happen and one day you will be just what you want ;D
