Hi.
Im looking for some advice,
I have my first counselling session in Feb..even tho its a wait & am excited about it,I'm apprehensive as to what to expect?
I've been told it's a lengthy process,is this true?
Like most I've always known who I am, but for the past 2yrs,I've made massive changes and come on leaps and bounds. I've come out to family/friends,and recently (few months) Ive changed my name, got my hair cut & came out at work. Will this count for anything?
I know we have to go through counselling for obvious reason, I get that, but now I'm raring to go, im stronger, more confident with who I am,I don't want any set backs,I just want to go forward.
How long will it be before they even talk to me about T?
J
It seems you are pretty well along your way.
I'd say it counts, just tell them.
It all depends on the person, some might want a certain period of time, some not.
You might ask them how ong until a letter for hrt.
Which country are you from ?
In the US there is also informed consent, where you can start soon. Many consult a counselor anyways though, to help them along if necessary.

Thanks for your response. It's greatly appreciated. I'm from the UK,Scotland so I think our healthcare options vary..
I'll Google it though, will be interesting to know.
Many thanks

Thank you Laura
The NHS Scotland protocols are online, I brought them to my GP
Is your appointment with a mental health team or a GIC? if you've got a GIC appointment their website may have info. From what i've read, GIC initially do a minimum of two sessions no more than four months apart. I've also read that the RLE for hormones is six months but i can't remember where. you may also have to wait for bloodwork.
Thanks Peep ,I'll check it out. Four months apart seems like an awful long time to wait. Guess time will tell..
Appreciate you replying
Thanks
