Ok so I read that Obama care covers transgender care but then I read that it only does if your insurance includes it. I don't get it. Can someone explain this contradiction? Are transgender people covered or not.
I don't have an answer but thought this might make you smile. (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FLaCp0Vl.jpg&hash=a90f1f04f28843692e75cc8df89f1d2974c19590)
You can not be discriminated against for being transgender, but transgender care is not normally covered.

That is correct. The law says that they cannot use being transgender (or anything else) as a pre-existing condition to deny you general health care or charge you a higher premium. The transition-related procedures themselves do not have to be covered though. (This explanation (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,189555.msg1687526.html#msg1687526) I wrote regarding an employer's non-discriminatory statement and their insurance involves a similar logic.)
