Hi everyone,
Due to corporate shenanigans, it's very likely that the company I work for will be owned by a company based in Chicago in a few months. Since the new company doesn't even own us yet, I can't find out what their health plan is like toward transgender people. I am hoping, though, that I can get an idea of what the laws in that area say about how much they can legally deny coverage to transgender people.
Does anyone have experience with health care laws in Chicago, or Illinois in general? I'm also interested in what the politics there are like toward transgender people in general, if anyone knows. Are things there moving toward transgender friendliness? Are there laws protecting trans people in the bathroom? Are companies allowed to fire people for being transgender?
I've been fighting with our current corporate overlords in New York for almost two years to get blanket exclusions removed from our health care without any success. I'm wondering how much of a battle I'm in for with our new masters.
Anything anyone can share would be helpful.
