Title: Anyone ever go out partially dressed?
Post by: TechGirl on December 24, 2015, 06:58:31 PM
I don't have a wig and makeup yet,  having only recently come out to SO.  My experiences dressed in public have been limited to short walks wearing a coat in the late evenings, and one trip to the outlets with said coat covering my forms (wanted to try things on w/o causing a stir).

I don't expect my SO to approve of a wig and m/u in the immediate future either (working for balance with her).  And I cannot grow my hair out anytime soon due to my job.

Has anyone gone out dressed just in clothes and breast forms,  but no makeup, no wig?  What kind of reactions did you receive?  We're you afraid,  nervous,  elated?

I rarely wear makeup. I just haven't been able to afford it. I have grown my hair out. When I go out in the proper clothing I always "own it." I show confidence and smile. I've only ever gotten compliments. One little girl at EPCOT, while I was on vacation in Florida, did give me a look. Funny, I'd swear I saw the same little girl on the cruise ship a few days later.

I did dress for my company holiday party and I'm sure I blew a few minds but I only got compliments on how well I looked. The one surprising thing were the number of women who didn't realize how big my breasts are (15 months hrt). I wear sports bras to work, usually.

Does the hrt blur the lines? I am truly ugly dressed as a woman without making up from the neck up.

I go out in women's jeans and an untucked button front shirt.  Shaved but no makeup at all.  And my hair grown for a year.  I get called ma'am often like that.  HRT for 11 months and it has made a big difference for me.

Now it's time to work my voice so I don't out myself every time I speak.

About my hair.  I have really pushed some boundaries there.  I work on a military base in a professional setting and I think I'm the only one there with long hair that isn't either blatantly female or a guy with a beard and ponytail.  Everyone else has buzz cuts.  So far it hasn't caused any problems other than people joking around.

I do.  I have to be able to present as male, but I have women's jeans - modern fit, boot cut - and I wear a air of women's boots that look like mens.  As for shirts, I wear them under a sweatshirt, and sometimes a bralette under a tank top, under the hoodie.  That's as daring as I've gotten.

I've seen men with long hair and a beard that constantly changed length on a military installation overseas.  If kept professionally, I don't expect that you would have any issues.

Sounds similar to my own trips, except that I used my forms as well.

The scariest was when I was getting too warm with all the layers and had to take the jacket off.  I was also in a jean skirt.  I thought I had chosen late enough to avoid anyone, but people were returning home from work late that night.  Kept putting my jacket or knit hat on every time I saw headlights.

Silly, I know. Just trying to take it one step at a time.

I've gone to Starbucks and read a book or worked on my laptop there.  I get a little scared standing in line, or if guys sit near me.  I may not be a cis-woman, but I can sympathize, now, with their fears of men.

Definitely! Check out the before and after thread for inspiration. It also softens and slows down your beard. You still have one but it's easier to control.

Hi,  I go out all the time pretty much dressed as you see in my avatar.   Which basically means that I usually keep all parts covered and never go out half dressed.  ;D   My body is not made for nudity.  Your style is your style.   Look at all the girls in the place you navigate your life in and see how they dress.   There are multiple possibilities.  I have worn dresses or skirts continuously the last two years.   Main reason is that with my partner for five years he was ok with me dressing as my female self, but with the exceptions of dresses and skirts.   The day came when I had chafing in my privates areas and didn't want the pants or shorts to rub there and skirts and dresses suddenly became ok.

After 53 years of dressing as nothing but butch, except in a few private moments, I am all fem all  the time now.

How fully were you dressed?

All the time for me.  Usually wear a pair of comfy jeans and a loose blouse or t-shirt with my running shoes and rarely any makeup.  I have been ma'amed a time or two, but I figure they cued on manners more than appearance.

Figure I have to wear clothes to keep out of jail...though I have thought of going topless once things get a lot bigger up top and I still have M on my ID...that will be truly, half dressed for me!

* Has anyone gone out dressed just in clothes and breast forms,  but no makeup, no wig? *
Yes.  I felt like a moron!   hahahaha!    But I did it anyways.  Granted, I was on vacation and not in
my own home town.

*  What kind of reactions did you receive?  *
I got a few stares, a few snickers, and one SOB that got up in my face condemning me to HELL because
of me being a queer.  ( I am not, I love my female wife. But knew it would be POINTLESS to argue!  :-D  )

*  We're you afraid,  nervous,  elated?  *
Afraid, no.
Nervous? No. BUT, I was not in my home town either. Might I also point out I concealed carry a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40 handgun, and am very well educated and experienced in hand to hand real world street fighting. Soooooooooo, , , , , , , , I really only fear snipers.  Also,   I would NEVER do this where I live.
Elated?  You bet !!!    ;D

Women's boots, with the socks that stick above them, women's jeans, bralette, women's tank top, male hoodie.  My boots were a little less obvious than this - and this isn't me, of course.  You can see another outfit in my avatar, although I had sneakers and not heels on when I went out.

I like the look, but then again I grew up in the 80s.  My wife would condemn me for wearing anything that even remotely resembled leg warmers.  But again, 80s child here :-)

LOL.  Mine are a pair of my hunting socks, over my jeans and under my boots.they don't scrunch like the ones in the pic, they just come about an inch above the top of the boots.

Hair style is more critical than getting HRT in looking feminine.

I am not quite sure about your job, but I have kept my hair long during the past 13 years. I worked as a government official and now as a university professor. I live in a very conservative country, South Korea. Yes. A lot of pressure on my long hair, but I eventually defied it. Following me, some of my junior colleagues kept their hair long, and nobody mentioned it any longer, as I already paved a road for them. They should thank me.

Long hair is enough to look feminine even without HRT or makeup. About a week ago, without makeup:

Oh. I grew up in the 60s!
