Title: Goodbye 2015 Hello 2016
Post by: Cindy on December 31, 2015, 04:20:41 AM
It is 8.30 at night in Adelaide.

Hot. Very hot.

I'm going to reflect.

I had this sort of post last year - watching the New Year come in across our little world. It was lovely as people woke up and said 'Happy New Year'

Why?

Because there is hope, there is support. Acceptance for TG people has increased, we are more open as a community. We may disagree with high profile people but we are being seen. It does help.

I have met lots of new members; some so sad. I have seen so may long term members transition from fear to acceptance.

I completed my journey, an impossible task from when I joined on the 8th November 2008.

Scared little bunny.

I have seen the website blossom, with a lot of work from incredible staff.

What does the New Year mean and why do we make an event of it? A meaningless date on a calendar we do not understand?

It is a chance in time to cleanse, to reflect: to hope.

We have hope.

Once I had none.

We find hope in our friendships and support.

I hope 2016 will be lovely for you and please count down the hours together around the globe.

May I wish you all love and acceptance and your dreams come true in 2016

Hot. Very hot.

It is the middle of the day here in Cheshire and an unseasonably warm 6°C and I have a party  to organise and guests staying over.

I'm going to reflect.

Oh well.. I might as well join in  ;D

It was something of a watershed year for me with GRS marking what I consider to be the endpoint of my transition. There are a few things that need finishing off - electro on my face will carry on for a while - but no showstoppers. All the big stuff is done and dusted and life is busy dragging me along. I have so much to do and so little time that the trans element of my life is diminishing. Something has to give and I am not the activist type although I help out where I can but the trans opportunities are getting less and less and I am not actively seeking new ones.

On Caitlyn - I have nothing against her but I do wish she would educate herself that not everyone's circumstances are like hers. I think we all make that mistake when we start participating in the trans-world. Projection is a danger that we all become aware of so I have hope that she will improve over time like a fine win.

Winter Solstice, northern. The end of the Roman Saturnalia. The days getting longer with hope of Spring arriving with the renewal.

Very simple the new year means I'm that close to SRS and won't have the appendage between my legs by the time New Years roles around. Hugs

Ok, me too. Sorry if I'm a bit vague, too much personal stuff.

2015 was a big year for me, my life's back on track and I'm feeling good. Perhaps track is not the best way of describing it since I'm not sure where its going. More like I've managed to carefully climb up to balance on a knifes edge, with various possibilities surrounding me. I'll see how long I can stay there before I fall off.

2016 is perhaps the year where I'll get some clarity on life's direction. I've no idea how I'll feel by the end of this year. I'm getting sick of living in fear and hiding away, and I see so many good examples of people who don't. On the other hand I see so many people having problems. No matter what I'm not going to get depressed again while I can help it. I've been feeling the urge to help people, but too fearful of outing myself. 2016 should be interesting.

I'd like to thank Cindy, and all the mods. And especially thank you to that that almost invisible presence Susan, who's influence I see everywhere.

I wish everyone well.

I think a good new years resolution for Susan's is to use degrees F instead of degrees C. I never could remember that formula for changing C to F

Here you go :)
T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) × 5/9

Goddess, damn  Americans! 0C water freezes. 100C water boils. 4C it snows, 40C you get your boyfriend to put suncream on you.

Fahrenheit? Pick a scale, any scale.

40C we hear about it from Adelaide.
-40 is easy. Same for both

Kelvin, now that's a proper temperature scale.

Thanks! Sorry, I ended up splitting my post out of the thread and moved it across to Transgender Talk. :)
