I have a question that might be triggering to some, so be warned!
Here´s the thing.
I have major dysphoria related to things not being "dry" down there. I know that leakage of certain fluids is "normal" in women, but since I do not consider myself one, I would love for it to stop. It´s very disruptive to my life, can´t walk anywhere without being worried about that.
I was wondering if you guys know of any method to counter it.
Since birth control is capable of controlling shark week, I don´t know if it has any impact on other kinds of leakage? It´s a long shot but worth knowing.
I've never heard of it having any effect on leakage. I have heard that there could be health related problems causing excessive leakage, something having to do with your lower regions obviously. If there really is a lot of it, maybe you should consider getting checked out? If there really is any underlying issue, you could have it solved and at least leak less. Guess that's still better even though it doesn't completely solve your problem.
Either that, or I'm mixing things up and remembering something completely different here.
There is no medical background (except psas, which they can´t cure, and I don´t know for sure if it´s related). I also googled it and it seems to be normal, i.e "necessary for your v... health" - I usually try not to read stuff like that ;D
I don´t have it all the time, seems to get worse after shark week and decline afterward.
:-\
Hey bud,
I don't think it has any affect on moisture levels down south, but I'm also not in the medical field so not 100% sure on that. I do know that T can potentially cause dryness and atrophy, due to the drop in estrogen that it brings. I googled "may cause v* dryness" and apparently anything containing antihistamines can cause it, as well as certain antidepressants. Not that you should go playing with those things trying to cause it, since that's not their intention. But something to bring up to a doctor maybe as they consider what to do about it.
I have kind of been there. I didn't actually have any kind of excess moisture, but in my mind I did. Shark week for me was extremely predictable, down to the day so I always knew when it would be. Despite that, my brain, every time there was any kind of leakage, automatically went to "OH GOD SHARK WEEK" and I'd go the bathroom once every hour or so wiping and checking because I was so paranoid about it. It was ridiculous and could've been avoided if things would just be dry.
I know the feeling but I can't say that a 'wetness' occurs to the point I freak out about it. There is the occasion that I might think a period is starting so I check more frequently but it turns out to be my own paranoia in the end. Naturally the underwear get a bit wet for both sexes. In cismales it is due to not shaking out all the way and cisfemales it is due to the hole. If you have a big puddle down there then there is something wrong and you need a doctor. A little wet spot is nothing to be concerned about.
Yeah but with guys it´s urine and with me it isn´t.
It´s the mental difference that is causing the dysphoria.
I know that it´s nothing to be concerned about, but then again having a chest isn´t anything to be (medically) concerned about, either. I´m not concerned, I just don´t feel allright about it.
Yeah, some of it is necessary. What I was referring to was when there's so much it leaks through your clothes, for example (which apparently does happen to some people). It's pretty normal for the amount to fluctuate, or even for the texture to change.
My point is that it doesn´t matter if it´s normal, because since I identify as a dude, it´s not "normal".
So the fact that it is in fact normal for women doesn´t make it normal for me.
Just saying. ;)
It's a body cavity with a mucous membrane instead of outer skin, and gravity makes the fluid escape inevitable. No different from nose, eyes, ears.
If by countering it you mean anything that's going to make it stop coming out or even being there... I can't imagine anything but surgical removal of that body cavity is going to permanently stop that. You could use tampons/pads, but I imagine that's even more dysphoric for some. I can't use those.
I also wouldn't recommend dehydrating yourself to reduce fluid or anything like that... you don't wanna risk kidney stones and the like.
Oops, sorry, I didn't mean for it to come across like that. I guess I'm too unclear about what I'm trying to say (and need to get used to interacting with the community). Obviously it's not normal since you're a dude, but what I meant was generally pointed at certain "parts", not at you specifically. And now that I've typed that out and read it, I feel pretty bad about what I said :(
I always had a lot of leakage pre-T. Now being on T for 2 years I'm pretty much dried up. The only time I do get "wet" is when aroused.
Starting T stopped the leakage for me very early. The amount also fluctuated with my cycle.
I suppose I just disconnected myself from that stuff so effectively that it didn't bother me except for the real deal monthly ->-bleeped-<-e.

Don´t worry about it dude, I got a little defensive yesterday after being told that it was nothing to worry about. Since it is absolutely unrelated to me being worried about anything.
Also people telling me that it is a membrane and that it has natural functions is not news for me. Sorry for being blunt, but it´s just that some people have more dysphoria in certain places and other people have dysphoria in other places. Telling me what it does is not going to help, because I already know that.
I know it is well - meant but that would be like me telling other guys not to have any chest dysphoria because boobs are natural? ;D You know.
I guess I´ll just have to deal with it somehow until I go on T. Thanks guys.
Well I'll be blunt also - what exactly do you expect can be done about it since you know all this stuff? Apart from removing the organ. Because until you do that, stuff is always going to be able to come out of it. I didn't tell you to be an ass, obviously, I was saying be realistic. You should probably be asking a medical professional about it then. Or maybe appreciate that people care enough to reply.
Hopefully T reduces the discharge, but like another poster said that organ is always going to keep an ability to secrete the gunge because that's what one of its main functions is. Realistically, I would not expect to never again have to deal with what it does even after T unless I got it removed.
Exactly what I asked before - the question whether or not guys had noticed that birth control had any influence on it. I think that was pretty clear and while I do appreciate input, I think I also have a right to be clear about what helps and what does not.
You don´t know until you ask. I discovered a lot of ways to deal with my top dysphoria and social dysphoria that I didn´t know about before. This is how come I ask; because maybe guys have gone through the exact same thing and figured out a way to deal with it.
I am realistic but for the sake of my mental sanity I also need to figure out ways to deal with my body that go further than just "accept it". And if that isn´t possible, well right, then I have no choice - but if it were possible, the only way to find out is by asking around.
Realistic doesn´t mean that you can´t ever see if there are options.
I experience similar dysphoria. It seems counter-intuitive, but I found that wearing boxers and somewhat baggy pants helped. Because of the whole mucus membrane thing, skin there is going to reabsorb wetness... unless your underpants absorb it first. This doesn't work if it is THAT time, but for most of the month it has helped me.

:) I actually do that, too. I´ve done a bunch of experimentation, actually wearing those tight underpant thingies from underworks (the ones that make your ass look smaller, haha...) also helps preventing it, but they´re pretty uncomfortable and really not o.k to wear for longer than say six hours (for me).
I personally found that T "helped" this for me. I say "helped" in parentheses because I am rather fond of the sexual functioning a of the "bonus hole" ;) so it's not necessarily a positive for me. I have to be very aroused to have any moisture down there, though when I have an orgasm I have started female ejaculating (sorry, I know you don't like female terms, but I don't think there is another word to get across what I am trying to say there), which is something that had never happened to me during orgasm pre-T and requires a bit of cleanup. So I would say it probably varies in effect. In the three months since I started T, I am lucky to be moist enough for it not to be uncomfortable and I have had only one leakage to the underwear moistening point when I used to regularly have it before. If it makes you feel better, sometimes very aroused men get some ejaculate leakage in their boxers. (Pre-cum.). When I was a TA in special needs and had to teach kids about their bodily functions we would discuss it. So you can try and get into a headspace of it being related to that, even if it is not technically from arousal, since it is also a function that rises during sexual stimulation. Dunno if that will work for you, but I suppose it's worth a try.

Thanks dude, I´ll try to think of that, although I think it´ll be difficult to convince my brain of it ;D
I´m actually looking into the use of sea sponges to deal with it, I had no idea those existed but they are used for shark week too, and apparently you can wash them. I will update if I order those, for anyone who´s had the same problem.

Make sure it is safe to put those things up there when you are not having your period. Tampons, for example are unsafe to use if you are not having your period.
Do you pack? I wonder if you wore a packer against your body you would be more aware of the feeling of that against you than any moisture under you?
I looked into the use of sponges when not having shark week.
There are no known relations to TSS as sponges are completely natural, don´t contain any chemicals or human made fibers. Still they are also of an absorbent nature so there is no 100% guarantee of it being completely safe.
Still I did a little more research and I found out that girls sometimes wear (silicone) menstrual cups when they are not menstruating to catch any naturally ocurring discharge. W00T!
Looks like I have found a possible solution to something that makes me very depressive.
I know it has been said earlier that nothing can be done about it, but I want to encourage anyone to always look for practical solutions when you have a practical problem that causes serious damage in your life.
Sometimes there are answers nobody had thought about.
I can recommend that you always think creatively while keeping an eye on safety.
I can also recommend that no one tell another person that there are no solutions, unless they have actual proof, especially when the person in question is feeling desperate enough to ask such questions.

Just because fluids are leaking doesn't mean there's a problem. There's only a problem when the leaking is a different color, smell or consistency than normal female fluids. Some people just have more moisture than others, doesn't mean there's anything wrong.
I used to have that problem a LOT when I was around 18, then I was put on birth control that effed up my hormones and destroyed my libido. Everything dried up and became almost useless. Since starting on T, I've gotten a lot of that moisture and libido back. For some reason, it seems like my body produces a lot more moisture with higher T levels, and E destroys that region. Since I do have sex with that area, it's such a blessing to me (I spent YEARS of struggling through relationships that would have been much better if my body functioned, thinking that I would never be able to enjoy things again).
I have forgotten how annoying it is to have it happen throughout the day, but I'll take it for what it is. For me, I guess it just makes me feel more like a man, being able to have sexual urges and desires again. I can see how someone who didn't suffer through all that would feel dysphoric about it happening, though. For those who don't suffer from this too badly, maybe they can just tell themselves it's the same as pre-cum. Sometimes it happens. The body is designed to produce fluids throughout the day, male or female. For those who have a serious issue with it (mine's still not NEARLY as problematic as it used to be before), I guess just hope that it lessens once you start hormones, unless someone here finds a good solution for it.

This is true and it works. I used to use silicone cups of varying brands to see which I liked best. The Diva Cup is the most well known for shark week and you can buy one at Whole Foods or online. I would leave it in when it wasn't that week to take care of any potential excess discharge since the amount fluctuates with my cycle and all but one week during ovulation when it gets bad I can mostly ignore it. I also have a mirena IUD inserted to purely control heavy bleeding from poly cystic ovaries. The only downside to these cups is depending on your dysphoria you have to be okay with a decent amount of contact and potentially having to fish the cup out of there until you get used to insertion and removal. The stem intended for removal was very irritating so I had to cut it off which made it harder to get in and out but more comfortable for long term wear.
I miss mine for practicality but due to the suction and pressure of the cup it can rip out an IUD which terrifies me to no end so I've just been wearing washable cloth pads I made myself as liners and on the bad days I wear tighter briefs with the pads to catch anything I don't want in my underwear. Not ideal but better than yanking something out of an internal organ by accident :o
Good luck, I hope this solution works out for you.
Most cis girls have some discharge down there which varies with the time of the month. I try to just ignore mine most of the time which work as it not that much. I am a tampon guy for shark week. I looked into those cups once and quickly decided that there was way too much handling of those parts getting it in and out for me to get one. They do work for some guys but not me.
