Title: probably a faq, but... self-made binders?
Post by: jordmungand on January 15, 2016, 10:19:27 AM
this is probably asked a lot of times since i know there are a lot of people going about without parent permission or other reasons
i'm asking because i'm closeted but i still want to look as flat-chested as possible when i'm in public, not with my parents (e.g. at school, going out with friends)

i live in a rather secluded place and there aren't really a lot of information or stores for the lgbt community,,,, yay hong kong. and even if i find overseas shipping services, i still can't pay because i don't have a credit card. i'd have to ask my parents and they'd be questioning why i have it. i also don't want it arriving at our mail and having my parents see and ask. i'm not a good liar.

so i'm wondering if there's a way to make like, a diy binder.
i know there are health risks with it, so is there a safer way?

Do NOT try to make a binder yourself! If you must, put on a sports bra the regular way, and then put another one on backwards. The back panel should bind you quite flat, and the second one CAN be a size smaller. Even when doing this, do NOT bind for more than 8-12 hours, depending on what your body will allow.
Good luck!

Most of the online sites will accept Visa gift cards. Save up your money and buy one. I wouldn't recommend trying to make your own binder.

A visa gift card is a like a gift card that has money on it but acts like a disposable credit card.

If you do sports you can tell your parents that it is a special shirt/bra that will help you when running etc. You can usually get the visa gift cards at a grocery store or mall. Send the package to a friends house and your parents won't know.

yes, i think i'll consider asking someone to help me get an actual binder
pft sports. they won't believe me for a second. im too lazy to do anything

for actually buying binders
do i have to go a size smaller?
because i really don't know what the numbers mean
tbh i probably don't even know what boob size i am
should it be printed on the bra? probably

im such an idiot

Do NOT go a size smaller! If you get a binder that's too small, it can be painful and cause serious issues, IF you can get it on at all. You'll have to actually take your measurements, you can google how.
Good luck!!! :)

Each website that sells binders will have an individual sizing chart. You use a sewing measuring tape to measure around your chest and under the bust. If you are borderline on the sizing chart then go up one.

okay, thanks guys!

my best friend said she'll look into helping me get a binder for my birthday
i don't know if she'll succeed, though.

i'll try and get measurements
but until then
i'll keep using the double sports bra thing
