Title: Male or Female boxes
Post by: XxCosmicEvan on January 16, 2016, 07:09:26 AM
I have just started to understand who i am inside but even despite knowing i'm transgender i have struggled with boxes on websites that say "Male or Female" it's like my brain is not trusting my heart and my heart isn't trusting my brain maybe in a sense i'm still confused. But i think it's because a side of me does accept i feel sorta female but i want a male body and i have male actions/brain and it's just who i am inside i can't completely explain. I hate boxes i just hate boxes because my hands can't click the box i feel it's like i'm scared.
Does this still happen to others who know who they are and what they want to be called? because i feel dumb...like i should be able to click that box and be happy and confident.

I had trouble with forms that ask that from the time I was old enough to fill them out myself. I would look at the boxes for a long time not wanting to check the male box but too afraid to check the female one. Something that most people would just not give any thought to would be an emotional dilemma.

The box on this site is optional. There are people with hundreds of posts who haven't checked a box yet for one reason or another. This site is designed for you to explore yourself and determine where you fit in the gender spectrum. As your are just starting, you have many question and few answers so it is understandable that you aren't sure which box to check.

The transition involves therapy and a year of RLE because people really need to be sure which box they want to check so at this point, the best advice is to relax and learn. Becoming sure which box to check will come with time.

I still struggle with "male or female" boxes as well... I oftentimes have to double-take, because I'm so used to clicking the "female" box, that clicking the "male" box seems strange. Similar to how I'm still getting used to being referred to with masculine language...simply because I'm so...NOT used to it... You know?
Either way, I can assure you that it does get better with time. It's not just everyone else who has to get used to the change - your brain does too. Your brain would have been trained over your entire life to, for example, click "female", and it does take some getting used to...so, yeah.

I'm not aiming this at Susan's this is me talking about literally talking about not liking box checking
yes it's optimal but i don't want to be seen as nothing either so i picked the closet to me i guess on Susan's that is, i do the same for any site with boxes depending.
