Title: Came out as trans to my sister...
Post by: MeganAshley on January 20, 2016, 10:09:27 AM
...and it was far easier than I ever anticipated.

She asked (and is still asking) a ton of questions. I have done my best to answer everything but she said she wasn't all that surprised by this.
She said that she always felt I was more like her sister than her brother. She also said that all of her friends growing up felt that way about me too...that I was the only of the 3 male siblings she had that any of them felt completely comfortable around like I was just one of the girls.

She's a teacher and is always in learning mode so she asked a lot of questions...
So are you gay? Or is that even the same thing...?
Is this something that you have felt for a long time or is it recent?
If you knew early on, why didn't you ever say anything to anyone? I reminded her about our parents catching me with girls clothing and she had an aha moment.
Do they know what causes this? Then she said, that wasn't how she meant it but what she meant was that from a biological aspect, was there anything that was instrumental in my feeling this way.

We talked for about 45 minutes and then texted back and forth for the next several hours.

Honestly, I am again finding myself to be the hardest person to talk to about this.

I want to thank all of you though...even in the short time I have been active here, just reading your similar and shared experiences has made this a lot easier than I ever thought it was going to be.
Still a very long journey to go but it gets a tiny bit easier every day.

*hugs*

I love the feeling when someone openminded is asking honest questions because they really want to understand.

There's a first time for everything hun! I'm glad it went well for you, and I hope more positive  coming out experiences will follow. I am the same, my sister was the first member of family I came out to. She was very supportive too.

Next person down! Had lunch with a gay guy friend of mine.

And he wasn't surprised...in the least.
Beginning to wonder if I was the only one who didn't *know*! Hehe

Hi Megan

I'm so happy for you as It is so hard to come out to family and friends. There is always the fear of rejection and the anxiety can be brutal. This is and will be one of the hardest parts of your transition. But what a relief it is when you get a good response from someone you truly love or a good friend. It does get a lot easier as time goes by.
