Hello
I have just been told after 5 years post GRS that I have a minor prolapse and I will need surgery to get it fixed. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give, I have 2 questions
1. Can anyone who has had a similar experience or who has opted for revision of GRS and had a positive outcome with a surgeon let me know who they went to? I was having some scar tissue pain anyway so this prolapse is a great opportunity to get things sorted properly and hopefully with a better outcome ( my original results were not bad btw but the scar tissue did make sex a bit sore)
2. My UK surgeon only offers free revisions in year one, so i need to pay as i did self fund. I would prefer to get NHS help as i have paid my taxes and this is a procedure that needs to be done. Does anyone know how i can get some help finding out how to get NHS funding? I have no idea how this works, to some degree i wonder if this even comes under the same banner as GRS funding?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Sara
Hi Sara,
who told you about the prolapse? You might be able to ask them for the referral you're looking for?
The NHS has always made the point that if you go abroad or privately they won't take care of things, but if you went with a UK DR, then I could see them possibly trying to overlook it.
Another possible solution is approaching your original surgeons office, they might only do free revisions within a year but it might be th surgeon is still willing to waive fees if you pay for the operating room and anesthesia, otherwise he or she might be able to point you in the right direction in regards to funding through the NHS.
Look for the names and contact info for the funding authorities where you are located... These people might be able to guide you p.
Good luck
