It's a little premature, but I knew sometimes the appointments would be out 4+ weeks. I'll have been seeing my therapist for ~2mths at that point. It's a step that makes me really excited but also is beginning to make it feel more real.
In meantime, I still have weight to lose. I'm down 25lbs now but I should be close to about 190lbs by then. I think if I stay focused I'll be able to lose the last 10-15lbs during the inital month or two of HRT, plus the muscle mass that will eventually come off. Ultimately, as a 5'10'' woman, I'd like to weigh 145-155lbs.
I'm currently losing weight at about 2.5-3 lbs a week with just diet and religious calorie counting. Even if that slows to half that's shouldn't be a problem, can always add a bit of cardio, yoga, and squats/crunches.
Anyone else want to share their experiences losing weight before and after starting HRT? Were you happy with your results?
Ive been losing for the past 7 months.... slowly, but I like that it keeps my skin tight. Im down about 60 pounds. I havent officially started HRT yet. Do they want you to be at a certain weight before starting? Im a plus size girl btw
When I decided to finally face my demons I knew I wanted to loose the extra weight I was carrying from a lifetime of comfort eating. I've gone from 278 to 165, over 10 months, though calorie control and exercise. On the down-side I now really need a tummy tuck, on the up-side, I'm fit, healthy and have built a mental discipline that I never had before. Keep your eye on the end-goal, and stay positive.
RitaChans - no it's entirely my own choice to lose weight. I've been hovering around 225-235 for past couple years, and it was time to make a change. I really feel I'll look and feel better at the lower weight I'm shooting for.
Maybe I'm a bit obsessed with it, but I want to make changes to feel better about myself and my body.
I lost a total of almost 70 pounds during the course of two years, from 200 pounds (yikes) to my current 135. It was maybe 95% diet for me and 5% exercise. I hardly exercised and still lost the weight. The biggest tip is just the simple rule of calories in vs calories out.
I used an iOS app "Myfitnesspal" to track calories. I ate whatever I wanted, even fast food, on an almost daily basis, but wouldn't go over 1800 calories a day. 1800 cals was my limit for my weight and height in order to lose weight. It's different for everyone.
I was also very strict on the calorie tracking. I tracked everything from the oil I cooked with, every liquid I drank, sauces and dips I used, and even the black pepper I sprinkled on food and soy sauce I used for sushi, etc. A teaspoon of black pepper is five calories, a tablespoon of soy sauce is 25 calories. Might seem insignificant but that's how strict I was with the calorie tracking and is probably why I lost all the weight. People often forget to track these things and the calories add up!
So I didn't exercise.. I didn't really eat any healthier.. but I still lost 70 pounds lol. The "calorie in/calorie out" rule, people. Losing weight was simply a mathematical game for me.

Here's another couple for you, 3 bay leaves = 2 calories, 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper = 1 calorie. Yes, you can't lie or cheat yourself. If you don't and are faithful with it, anyone can totally succeed with the calories in < calories out approach!

I weighed 385 lbs have dropped down to 177 lbs, it took about 3 years to lose. My diet was probably not the safest as I put my self into catabolic state for part of it. I was just over 200 lbs when I started hrt 7 months ago. Right now I weigh less than I did than when I was a freshman in high school in 1973.
