Title: Buying binders online?
Post by: amberluna on January 31, 2016, 10:30:38 AM
So i recently opened a bank account which i thought at the time would mean i could buy a binder, until i found out that my parents track my purchases, meaning that unless i come out to them which they'll probably dismiss and call a 'phase' (even though i've been hinting at it since i was 5) i won't be able to buy a binder. However, I thought that it might be possible to sell a binder online, but with a vague or irrelevant description (e.g. "plain white vest" or "two piece swimming costume top") so that people in similar situations can safely bind without their parents or whoever they live with finding out. Does such a thing exist, or are there rules against it?  or are there any other ways to buy or get a binder without my parents finding out?

I'd contact whatever vendor's you're looking to purchase from and see how they bill. What comes across on your bank account is just the vendor's name and some other data about them. So if you go to CVS and buy a coke and candy, all that comes across is that you spent $5 at the CVS on Main Street.

Of course, they will probably ask you what you bought. And if they're really interested they could search for the vendor and see what kind of things they sell. So if you're worried about that, I'd try to buy from a vendor that sells multiple things. Underworks sells binders as well as lots of specialty compressive undergarments, so that may be a good option.

GC2B just shows up on my statement as GC2 plus a lot of letters/ serial numbers or w/e, and I can't actually find Underworks on my statement so I guess it's similar. Watch out tho if you're outside of the US because it shows on the statement that the money was transferred from dollars. It's maybe stranger to buy a "sports bra" from the USA...

I'm not transmasculine but I exclusively donate gc2b binders to those in need whenever I can.  This company is nice quality and is VERY discreet.  I'd recommend that if you're in the US, especially the east coast.  PO boxes are always a way.  Doing it through a friend is great too (I've done this a couple times to the few TG people around here).  I wish I could help - maybe I can if you PM me.  Tumblr is famous for tips on getting ahold of TG goods as well.  transgenderteensurvivalguide.tumblr used to be a great blog but I haven't been on it since I left Tumblr.  You might be able to find some way.
