Hi all,
Just a quick question. Started my low dose HRT last week. Both Spiro and E patch. Curious which is it that works on the body hair? I know it changes from person to person. However, I was also curious when people noticed a change in body hair?
I am not looking for immediate results of any part. I mostly noticed the liquid in/out shift and a little relaxing in my mental world. Not sure if that is a placebo effect. I'm not looking for huge changes at my age(wouldn't argue if some occured)mostly the mental shift. Just additionally curious because hair is a bit of a trigger to me.
Thanks for your time,
Joanna
Before saying anything. Your millage may very. I didnt have much body hair to start with
however for me those were the changes i had in 4 month:
No more:
-Chest hair growth
-Back hair growth
-Butt hair growth
lesser :
-scrotum area
-beard
Slower thinner and blonder:
- Leg/ thight
- arm/armpit
It's the estrogen. Back when I did DIY I did E only and most of my leg hair disappeared. I never had my blood tested so I have no idea what my levels were but my DIY dose was lower than what my endo gave me this time. The interesting thing is that even after I stopped and my T went really high, most of that leg hair never came back.

Mine went away after I had surgery. It took a year or two. I can't remember for sure.

At the one year mark, i have seen
1. Breasts/Chest/stomach/back - Thinning by 50% and softer and lighter but still need to epilate/wax - just less often
2. Pubic - More of a female triangle pattern
3. Scrotum/butt - Gone or so light i don't notice
4. Legs - Thinning/lightening and much slower growth. I could literally go 2 weeks without shaving if i was ok with just a bit of stubble (I'm not ok with that )
5. Face - Slowing and thinning a bit - Again i would not shave it every day if i were not at war with it and trying to vanquish it in the long run.
In the brief period of T-blockers only, i did not notice a lot of change but as soon as estrogen came, it changed.
Thanks for sharing ladies.

Both. Spiro blocks and reduces androgens (T and DHT). Estrogen also reduces AND opposes androgens within cells through different mechanisms (less conversion to DHT, less androgen receptors/downregulation, increased aromatase activity converting more T to E).

Body hair growth slows down within days. Density and diameter of hairs gradually decrease over months to years. More so and more quickly in certain regions than others (buttocks, lower leg VS. underarm/pubic, chin/upper lip, arms). Different areas vary in sensitivity to androgens. Also depends on state of hairs, whether terminal, thick or not and if you have a lot to begin with and for how long you had hair in that region. Age is another factor as is genetics.
I noticed after the 2nd month, no more hair on the belly or chest, no hair at all this point. I had very little hair there to begin with, while in my legs, and arms I still grow hair, but less.
