Hi, everyone. I'm Charlotte, a 44 year old MTF living in Bedford. This forum was recommended to me by an FTM friend, so after lurking for a bit I thought I'd better introduce myself. :)
I knew that something was wrong from quite an early age, but soon learned to hide it as anything girly was met with my Dad ridiculing me. From my teenage years until fairly recently I was able to supress the feelings with alcohol and pot, but I recently gave all that up and the feelings came back. After a tearful coming out to my fiancée (we'll have been together for 3 years this Valentine's Day), she convinced me to get some help (thankfully she's bisexual so she's happy for me to transition).
I had an appointment with a psychosexual therapist a couple of days ago and she's giving me a referral to Daventry GIC. It's such a relief to finally get things moving. :)
Looking forward to participating more on this forum.
Charlotte

No need to hide here, as you're now among supportive friends who 'get' you. :)

Hi Charlotte, welcome. Your story is similar to mine, for a while i too tried to supress feelings with alcohol - and we are almost of the same age - i'm some years older, but, please don't tell this anyone ;)
My ex-wife didn't accept my coming out attempts, and now i'm divorced now. I've been victim of a sort of "stalking" - my ex persecuted me for a while... but this happened many years ago, i get over that - past is passed out.
She was just invidious for I looked as a much more beautiful girl than her :D
Now i'm in a new relation with a more open minded girl.
It's really great that your fiancée is supporting you. :)
All the best Charlotte, I'm very happy for you.
Hugs,
Aly
*my English may sound a bit "odd" because English isn't my first language*
Hi Charlotte, I'm in Biggleswade, not far from you. I'm currently separated from my wife and children after coming out to her, and my parents have not reacted well. It sounds like you and your fiancee stand a good chance of sticking together which is great. Best of luck.
Megan.
Welcome to the forum!
A big hearty welcome to Susan's, Charlotte.

Ooh! Nice to see someone local. :)
Sorry to hear about your situation with your family. I have a feeling my parents aren't going to react well either. They're both quite elderly and are typical Daily Mail readers in their views. :(
Well mine read the Telegraph! When the time comes, I hope they give you the support all parents should give their children.
