Title: Getting taxes done for the first time since transitioning.
Post by: Mariah on February 11, 2016, 10:34:01 PM
I knew this would happen, but I still was hoping it wouldn't. I scheduled my appointment a month a go and made sure they changed the name and gave the needed information so they could schedule it. Of course it pulled my old info up. They claimed they changed it so it was scheduled under my name. Yet, sadly when he came forward asking for me he screwed up and called out the old name. This was exactly what I was hoping wouldn't happen, but in the back of my mind knew likely would. As I told him, after we want back it was a reason I was considering going with a different company so I didn't have this issue. Yet at the same time because one of the forums that had my income on it still had the old name do to a settlement that had used old info when sending it out from work I had done long ago. I realized it was better to not out myself more than I already was and that dealing with the same person, who was apologetic was a better option any. He misgendered me once due to knowing about my past, but quickly apologized and did everything correctly otherwise. Everything went well in the end despite those little issues and wasn't that bad at all. Hugs

glad you survived. I hate that when you do your best to prevent something from happening , but knowing given the nature of the human condition that it's probably going to happen anyway and you hope up until the very last minute that it doesn't happen , but it does.

It is usually the administrative and bureacratic glitches that get us the the end.

Sorry that happened Hon.

I did have much the same happen with the Tax people, and then my refund cheque came back in my dead name and I had to convince the bank that it was for me in my real name.

Thanks Cindy. I had to do that with a check that was a result of work related settlement that was off older records hence my dead name was on it too. Hugs
