"A six-year-old transgender child tried to pull off her penis and refused to drink water at school to avoid using the boy's toilets in a desperate attempt to become a little girl.
Briella Carmichael was born a boy but she has been identifying as a girl since she was a toddler.
The year one student from Melbourne was diagnosed with gender dysphoria last September after her parents, Scotty and Kirra, sought help when their son Baylin said he wanted to live as a girl. "
Ouch. Sorry kid, those things ain't detachable... more's the pity.
Poor kid. Sounds like she's getting some help from understanding parents though.
I have to admit to having an issue with publicising the names and pics of transkids. They have the opportunity to grow to be normal men and women of their affirmed gender and live in stealth. To have a past news paper article surface could be devastating.
When ANZPATH were involved in the TV program on children we insisted the children were not identified, but some of the parents were quite insistent.
It's a tough call.

I can't imagine how parents could want their children identified.

I agree and it is worth comment that the cases we have taken to the Family Court do not name the child. The groundbreaking Jamie case used a false name, the same name of Jamie was used in the TV program and the child was not filmed in a way in which she could be identified. The ABC Presenter and her crew also insisted upon it.
My problem as a kid from 6 onward were horrific castration dreams where my penis would go down the toilet . Those dreams lasted into puberty than the other nightmare started when I did want to get rid of it.
I'm from the US so I really haven't the slightest how the Daily Mail is viewed as a news source. I posted it because it's a real problem because I went through the same thing when I was that young . As far as the name being used I agree , but why did the parents allow it.
this is awful and i feel terrible for this little girl, i remember a long time ago when i tried to do something like that when i was like 8, almost landed myself in the hospital
and people try to tell us that being trans isint a real thing, it can be dangerous to deny it.
and her name definitely should NOT have been use. they probably weren't aware of the danger when they let it happen.
