Hello everyone.
I'm taking a truck driving course and I am the only woman, and if one wants to really be technical, the only trans woman there. Some of the classes are larger then others, depends on the subject as some people come from outside the school for classes such as air brake, fork lift operator, defensive driving etc. Anyway, I'm learning about and driving tractor trailer trucks on the road with a 53 foot trailer in tow and I'm enjoying it, even the friendly waves from other people.
I am being treated with respect on the course, as an equal and have to do the same grunt work as everyone else. This week we were watching some videos on You Tube to kill some time with border crossings, how not to load something etc and there was a thumbnail of an attractive bikini clad woman with a big tractor behind her and she was going to describe the pre-trip inspection procedures on it. I asked if we could see it and my instructor put it on. She began to describe what to look for etc and some made comments like where's the truck, what it was etc. Good natured stuff. I said to the instructor that if I wore a bikini, would he think it would help me for my tractor trailer licence road test? There was lots of laughter at that and I replied, "so I guess the mini won't help either". More laughter. I was told, don't wear the bikini and we all laughed at that.
I'm glad we can laugh at things and not take everything too seriously and I'm happy that I'm accepted by everyone on this course as a woman and most of all, as an equal.
Love,
Clare
congrats
I chuckled about this. I laugh at myself on occasion.

Congratulations. It's great to be able to share your sense of humor and be accepted. I'm so happy for you!
