Title: Removing Make-Up Quickly - Suggestions on First Attempt
Post by: Emily-G on February 18, 2016, 12:58:44 PM
Hey Everyone!

So, I finally gave in and bought a complete set of makeup after reading many different guides and watching hours of YouTube videos. I hadnt purchased anything because I was intimidated about choosing the right colors and I was low on money but I went for it.

LOVE IT- I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY!!

I've been dressing as Emily (my name) to my therapy sessions and I want to go all out with my make-up, but I have to work a few hours later in guy mode.

So I have to get it ALL off, any tips?

Particularly worried about how to uncurl my eyelashes, along with everything else.

I'm going to make my avatar a photo I took of my first attempt (besides the playing around growing up). Suggestions are welcome of course. I'm not on hormones yet, but I am hopefully to begin that in the next few weeks.

Don't worry about your eyelashes.
Get makeup remover cloths for the makeup.
Don't wait until the last minute to remove the makeup. Your face might be a little red after removing your makeup and it will take  a bit to clear up.

Because I have oily skin, I do it the wrong way and use a wash cloth with soap and water. Makeup removers are better if your skin is on the dry side and is unable to take that type of abuse. A compromise might be using a soap like Dove which is much less drying.

Hmm, so if I curl my lashes and put mascara on them, it'll go back to normal with just wipes? I guess I'm worried about the lip gloss also. Not sure why, it'd probably be a relief for my job to know, but I'd like to wait until I'm at least on hormones.

Use baby oil (some use olive oil) its cheap and even the most stubborn of long-wear lipsticks will melt away in seconds with it, then use facial wipes to clear off the makeup/oil. Try not to get it in your eyes but rubbing a little oil over your closed lids will dissolve mascara and eye liner then a clean wipe to clear up.

Okay, well I had work today, which was like 3 hrs after my therapy session and I was able to get much of it removed simply from showering. But the mascara was very stubborn!

I tried rubbing soap around my eyes and washing it, which worked but it seeped into my eyes.. Which was uncomfortable to say the least. So I may try baby oil or olive oil next time.

Was it waterproof mascara?
Try baby oil or mineral oil (same stuff just unscented) put it on a tissue, place the tissue on your lashes and let it soak for a moment.
Then try to remove the mascara.

I've found that body cleaning wipes tend to work for everything except eyeliner. Might go through a couple to get it all, but I feel it works almost as well as a shower in a pinch

Aveeno + Noxema. :)

For stubborn Eyeliner I just use Vaseline on a Q-Tip. Awesome!

I'm going to have to try that next time. Rubbed my eye sockets raw trying to remove it for work

As suggested above, try makeup remover on a Q-tip to get the stubborn eyeliner. It works great!

Noxima has camphor, menthol, and eucalyptus so I would keep it out of the eye area. However Ponds Cold Cream is what I use. Leaves you nice and soft afterwards. Use qtips on the eyeliner and mascara that gets stuck in your lashes. The cream will uncurl your lashes. Don't rub hard, just soft strokes around the lashes. Don't pull you don't want wrinkles. It's kind of old school but has been around for decades and does an nice job. Also good for long wear foundation, lipstick, and waterproof mascara.

Hello, I'm ftm and I use face masculinizing makeup techniques, and studied fx makeup in high school. When I need to remove my makeup quickly and cleanly I put coconut oil on clean wash cloth and rub it on my face this removes the makeup and moisturizes at the same time, I then rinse my face with cold water and pat dry.

A long time ago.

I go to work, my secretary says, are you feeling sad? Didn't sleep well?

No I'm OK.

Look in the mirror and see the panda eyes

Funny when I came out she wasn't in the least surprised ::)

Oh how we don't hide!

Haha yeah, last Saturday after a Friday night out with my bestie, we meet again (me in guymode again) and she says:

—Oh, good to see you've decided to wear mascara as a guy

Ouch :)

I personally use makeup remover towelettes and for that stubborn eye makeup I use Mary Kay eye makeup remover with a cotton ball. Coconut oil is also super nice but can be a pain to apply around the eyes until it softens up.

Hi !
For my eyes, I use Take The Day Off™ Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips. Efficient and soft in my opinion.
For my face, Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser.
Before I adopted these, I tried others.
Warmly,
Hannah

Baby wipes first-more economical than the ones specifically for makeup removal, but do the same thing.  Then wash off with a brush i got at ulta, a sponge, or washcloth with a moisturizing cleaner.  If there's anything left, ill use a toner.   Then a soothing moisturizer.

Love, love, love Neutrogena makeup remover wipes. I can take off all my spackle quickly, including mascara, and it is gentle on my skin. It's marvelous!

Thank you everyone!

I think I have goofed a few times and didn't get it completely removed. But I usually wear glasses and no one said anything.

I'm actually surprised how much people don't say. The other day I was out in guy mode sitting at a computer for at least 2 hours before realizing my pants were hanging down and my underwear was showing... Nobody said anything. ;D

I bought them awhile ago and finally got around to trying them today- Walmart's brand Equate disposable make up removal clothes.

It was the first thing I've used that 'wiped the slate' quickly. 1 took care of most of my face and I only needed a 2nd one to finish removing a waterproof eyeliner from my right eye that has always been a PAIN in the past to clean off.

Ahhhhhhh

Why are you wearing nail polish?

What nail polish (oups) Ahhh this, it's because you see, I I I was playing with my young niece, (yess) she's 8 and she started putting some on herself and of course she insisted to put some on me too, you know how little girls are, can't say no to them. I wonder how I'm gonna take that off now, you know me, makeup... do you know how or...

Yeah right, ask your sister, dude.

That was the first and last time I ever got caught. To remove makeup I use any good hydrating cream with a soft cotton wool and for mascara, soft oil. Rinse well and hydrate often, 3 or 4 times a day if you can. I did that all my life and I'm sure glad I did. Cheers.

I like using Neutrogena products for my sensitive skin.

For removing makeup, I had previously used the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes.  They're convenient and effective, but it gets pretty expensive to use them everyday.  So I looked for a different solution.

Now I use Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser.  It's more economical.  It both cleanses my skin and removes makeup at the end of the day.  I just wash my face with it, and my face is clean and makeup-free.

I need to use an additional product to remove mascara and eyeliner though.  For that, I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover.  I dab it on a cotton round and wipe it across my eyes, and all that waterproof mascara just comes right off!  Sometimes it doesn't get all the eyeliner near my lash line though, so I'll use a Q-tip dipped into the eye makeup remover to remove the last bits of eye makeup.  (oh, and be sure to vigorously shake the makeup remover bottle before using it each time.  The solution tends to separate itself if you let it sit on a shelf for even a few hours)

All these Neutrogena products are so popular that they now have generic brands available for the same things.  Visit your local Wal-Mart or Target store, and you'll find the store-brand equivalents of the same things at a much lower price (ingredients seem to be the same too, for the most part).  The store brands may work just as well for you.

Nail polish? Brake fluid. Don't ask. Luckily I didn't redo my nails until after I did the brake job.
